Maximus is a powerful Roman general, loved by the people and the aging Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Before his death, the Emperor chooses Maximus to be his heir over his own son, Commodus, and a power struggle leaves Maximus and his family condemned to death. The powerful general is unable to save his family, and his loss of will allows him to get captured and put into the Gladiator games until he dies. The only desire that fuels him now is the chance to rise to the top so that he will be able to look into the eyes of the man who will feel his revenge.

This is a wonderful storytelling. The opening battle scene simply mesmerizes
Showing the brutal nature of the struggle against the Roman conquests. I went back to see
The film again. The first time I have not heard anything Crowe said before the
Battle. I was too visually trapped under way. The second time I heard
nearby and called the wise yet succinct line Maximus "what we do in life ...
It echoes in eternity. "Awesome.

A simple man against an emperor. I loved the resistance showed Maximus
During the film. I think that in most films, there is an irritant
slow process in which the character has to "find himself," not for the purpose of Gladiator.
Maximus does what it takes.

I liked how there were only two or three items in this movie. One was
another life. Aspects of the afterlife opens, but it is not exaggerated. Love
family is significant given the focus. I liked the theme of patriotism that
We also, although it may not be justly deserve,
is never questioned.

Visual effects are striking. It has made me want to believe
That is the way Rome really is awaited in all glory. The battle of Carthage
was really a big recreation.

The end is simply hypnotic. Intentionally or not, but was merely
Emotional. The music is beautiful, as if Maximus' family
... That told him he has arrived.

Bottom line: excellent. Visually and emotionally satisfying.
