In 480 BC, the Persian king Xerxes sends his massive army to conquer Greece. The Greek city of Sparta houses its finest warriors, and 300 of these soldiers are chosen to meet the Persians at Thermopylae, engaging the soldiers in a narrow canyon where they cannot take full advantage of their numbers. The battle is a suicide mission, meant to buy time for the rest of the Greek forces to prepare for the invasion. However, that doesn't stop the Spartans from throwing their hearts into the fray, determined to take as many Persians as possible with them.

OK the first thing to do with this movie is that thinking about it
in historical terms is a bit of a loss. So I will skip over
that even if Zack Snyder is on record saying that ninety percent
accurate. I went to his office yesterday expecting a
affected even entertaining action film.
I was very disappointed. First the good points either point. It is visually
well conceived in a limited way. The color contrast between
Spartan red and the Persians and so on is well played. Likely
Miller to the original work. The measure was also well
choreography. Gerard Butler was also very good to Leonidas.
OK that's the good points. As for the bad: It's 117-minute
played at normal speed I estimate that there are about 65 minutes of footage
. It was really doing the slower-mo. Fair enough in the battles
or add emphasis to important moments, but is used to
literally everything. I'm walking somewhere, oh add some slow-mo. I am thinking
hard, yes there is some slow-mo. I am looking at the ground, which is
adequate? Slow-mo? The emissary being mounted in the city, you got it,
slow-Mo. Then it was the slow-mo sex scene that was just
embarrassing to watch.
The dialogue is just the cheesiest I've ever heard. Not even
entertaining in a kind of Arnie. It is simply bad. "I've never had a
opportunity to tell my son I loved him" be a real low point. Any scene that was not
fight against evil was done and just made to break up the fights
up a bit.
La banda sound is incredible. It fluctuated metal industry as the trailer
use Nine Inch Nails to flat out theft of parts of Banda
Gladiator soundtrack. Apparently at random. Some of the acting is pretty bad
, the Queen's speech to the council as permanent
unbearable. That could have been the dialogue that was
though. Or the voice that David Wenham (Faramir in LOTR) was doing.
Speaking of which I am sure Ephialtes means that the sound identical to
Gollum. Some of the plots was very badly explained. If I was not a history buff
the mere fact that invade Persia was probably
confusing. Although I guess it's good versus evil only. Or why on Earth
Persians not destroy Sparta, but waited a year. It was the
naval battle of Salamis in history, obviously, but does not explain at all
in the film. Or who spend their time creating Spartans struggling to
phalanx formation and rely on men to their sides, even
spend the entire movie in the fight against the highly developed so that the loose formations that
can be displayed. It also makes a joke of Leonidas reasoning for
remoteness Ephialtes. Or the fact that the last speech on combating
mysticism and tyranny sits wrong with a nation that apparently
not fight because their gods and said they were not ruled by a king.
Simply does not make any sense.
OK that's what the affected loving action film part of my brain
had to say.
The most serious critical part can not really complain as this is a comic adaptation
, I suppose that just like Sin City is under the same framework.
But I do think, what on earth god Frank Miller
Green was thinking when he wrote this?
I can not see it. He's taken the Spartan and twisted in
paradigms of human virtues at the same time absolutely dehumanizing the Persians.
There seems to be no reason to convert the Persians in
zombies and monsters, or to establish that the Spartan has had some kind of
democracy. The Ephores were not priests were veteran
Spartan warriors who were over 60 years and voted in the year long term. Sparta had
2 kings and could not state council about them, except Ephores (
which is debatable). The Spartan is life depends on the subjugation of a huge
slave class. To try to add Western values of liberty and freedom
is just madness. Especially to make a series of two-dimensional characters who are essentially only
mouth pieces of modern Western values. This
also seems strange that as the Athenians at least embody some of our
values are very badly treated by history. As
entire campaign revolved around them and their sacrifices, not the Spartans
being very selfish by not defend their fellow Greeks. There is no mention of the thousand
Thespians who fought until the last
alongside the Spartans, or all Helots (Spartan slaves) who were forced to fight to the last
with their masters. The treatment of the Persians
is just shocking, or are not human, horribly deformed or simply
more alarming in Asia, Eastern or African. I can not see why he chose
Thermopylae or why he chose to leave so shallow.
small details as the fighting in thongs is forgivable because it is only one choice
style, imitating Renaissance art in particular. But these things was
really crazy things thematically. Yes
so it's bad over a critical point of view and also
kind of troubling and disturbing from this standpoint.
300 (2007)
Review: 300 has been given a lot of criticism. People likes to see
politics. That is not the way. Here is my take.
300 is an entertaining film. This has to do with the action and is
Spartans. The film lasts approximately the first 30 minutes to give us the plot
development of the Spartans before proceeding to the battlefield.
The action is the key. The slow movement of action is what really provides.
This is like a ballet of blood done very well. The action is necessary
ie satisfactory. It gives us a lot of campy dialogue and some good
humor here and there that works. Gerard Butler is wonderful. The
embodies the great King. It becomes him.
Now, to politics, the 300 has its own policy, but it is also
based on a comic book written in 1998. How can this be a demonstration in favor of Bush
statement? This is like another image Frank Miller, Sin City.
The point is to make the comic book come alive. 300 was written by Frank Miller
almost a decade ago and you think this is right
propaganda?
Listen to me. Take a deep breath and lighten. Do you agree?
One last thing, this movie is NOT a lesson in history. This se basa en un
graphic novel, like a movie made in 1962, and is inspired by
battle in 480 BC This is neither racist.
The last word: 300 offers what is was sent to do. Action.
Entertainment. Skin. Ignore the naysayers and enjoy. Excellent popcorn
fun.
