The movie opens with poachers attacking a group of gorillas. Animal preservationists fight the poachers, which ends with one gorilla and a young girl's mother dead. In the melee, a particularly large gorilla baby attacks the head hunter and bites his thumb and forefinger off. The films immediately passes into the future and the young girl has grown up to be Charlize Theron and the gorilla has grown to be 15' tall and weighs 2000 pounds. The two are best friends who play together. When poachers again appear, a representative (Bill Paxton) of a California wildlife refuge convinces her to transfer the gorilla she has named Joe Young to the refuge. Of course, once there the former hunter shows up seeking revenge. Terrorizing the gorilla without letting his human handlers know, the gorilla goes on a rampage across Los Angeles.

King Kong must be one of the largest animals ever to grace the silver screen
, surely is the largest primate to do this. But there is a good
finalist: Joe. Once filmed before, in 1956, also as "Mighty Joe Young",

this story of a gorilla with a defect in the gene that causes him to grow out of proportions
in a primate 2000 pounds, is magnificent.

The story begins with little Jill Young and her mother, as they are in the jungle
watching a group of gorillas. Shortly Jill instantly with bonds
Little Joe, a baby gorilla. At night the group of gorillas's
is attacked by poachers and Jill and her mother go to the jungle out there to protect them
.
In vain, because in the end both Joe and Jill's mother is dead
.
Twelve years later, Jill (Theron) continues with Joe and Joe has become
this huge gorilla weighing over 2000 pounds. Paxton came to the jungle

to investigate a myth of a giant primate protection zone of the mountain
Joe where he lives. Joe and meet Paxton, poachers have been hunting him and
Paxton and Jill decided to adopt a Joe preserve in California
so you can have a quieter life. But the danger has not been ido, even old enemies in California
come to hunt there, and Joe ultimately has to make a very courageous action
...

This is the outline of a very well developed piece of cinema,
family entertainment at its best. The script is well written,
the characters are likable and convincing. You have the hero and heroine, the villain
and fortunately the moronic sidekicks have stayed home this time. Joe is a

lovable character, although much of what has been done with CGI, is still

very convincing. A large amount of work has ido in creating the right
facial expressions to give a human touch.
The story develops speed roller coaster, never let off steam and
constantly immersed in the hearings and new surprises beloved
situations.

Ron Underwood has done a great job in this story that recreates on the screen. The
performances are far above average, even Theron is good for once. Paxton

Paxton is your car. The art direction is fine too. The sets are well designed
, if something "Disney" at times. The special effects were impressive
and art. Although some of the scenes can be recognized as
CGI is, this was not very annoying, there have been attempts to worse
this genre.

A beautiful image of the family, if perhaps not for the smallest of the
family, some of the scenes can be quite frightening for some. One must be very large

At the beginning of the film, Jill and her mother have fun in Africa with
gorillas, and Jill's mother can not believe how big is becoming Joe. She

animal action and violence are quite afraid, and I would say that
not appropriate for children. In two cases, a child is placed in danger
. However, the action often include comedy, which lends itself to confusion.
Some people were really afraid of apes, while others laughed.

The gorilla was a great actor, whatever that means. Whatever the emotion felt
gorilla - anger, sadness, sorrow, happiness - that were evident from its
facial expressions. Robert Wisdom (as Kweli) also gave a good performance.
Charlize Theron is typical of the activist in films like these.
Jill's character was too excited about the protection of apes, and
a little too confident in their ability to regulate their behaviour.

This was a great adventure.

Jill and Joe both lost their mothers when it comes to protecting the gorillas from poachers

Exactly what he did for the monkey that fear can not be fully explained without giving away
certain plot elements. During a fund-raiser, Joe became very agitated when
acknowledges that the thief, and the ape escapes and a complete mess
the event. Joe had to be put into a special service, which cree Jill
he would lose his will to live. She took the thief in his bid,
not realize that he was to take Joe back to Africa to better conservation.
When the thief wrecked the truck, Joe was wild in downtown Los Angeles, and
even climbed the Hollywood sign. Then, Joe was chased to an amusement park, where
was a mess, but finally redeemed himself when he saw a child
danger and saved him.
