George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube star in "Three Kings," the story of a small group of adventurous American soldiers in Iraq at the end of the Gulf War who are determined to steal a huge cache of gold reputed to be hidden somewhere near their desert base. I avoided this film for some time because I have a strong aversion to
war movies, especially relatively recent wars. Too bad for me. I finally rented
that because of the impressive works I've seen by Mr
Russell. This is not a war film, despite having
place during a war, and in a war zone. This is a film of humanity. Like many other
films that I think is excellent, this film is about the human condition
on many levels. There is pathos, humor, love, violence, ad infinitum.
you get a sterilized version of what this film shows
the evening news. This demonstrates that our soldiers, like us, are human, with all our
frailities. And, I think, gives an honest account of what
life is like for the people of the Middle East.

Fine acting really fine actors, great photography and a very smart script
make this a must see the film.
