In the midst of World War II, the battle below the seas rages. The Nazi's have the upper edge as the Allies are unable to crack their war codes. That is, until a wrecked U-boat sends out an SOS signal, and the Allies realise this is their chance to seize the 'enigma coding machine'. But masquerading as Nazi's and taking over the U-boat is the smallest of their problems. The action really begins when they get stranded on the U-boat.

A story of disgrace and an insult to the brave men and women of
Royal Navy who gave their lives for freedom and democracy. Hollywood
clearly ignore the achievements of the British and Allied armed forces
and take credit for the victories won at such a terrible cost. For
rewrite history so blatant is irresponsible and misfortunes
generation of men and women of all Allies that
sacrificed so much on our behalf. When the lights of democracy
almost extinct around the world, American soldiers slaughtered
their lives on our behalf and the world will never forget what they
generation of young American men and women reached. However americas
had not even entered the war during the time that this film is developed and
to rewrite history so insulting and it is a disgrace.
This film is another in a long line of pro-US war movies. You know the
class. These are films where the soldiers are the only North American
capable of any wit, wisdom, intelligence and courage.

Unfortunately, by now the rest of the world is a little brighter, and we know that
, really, Ben Affleck did not save Britain from the Germans.
There is an undeniable and profound love and respect for all veterans and the U.S.
soldiers who lost their lives in Europe during two world wars of the
rest of the world, the kind of relationship that only comes from the defense of a
ideal with his life. It is that Hollywood is keenly interested in destroying
heroes "reputation for making them seem so superior as to be ridiculous
.

In short, this movie is an unbelievable travesty of "Das Boot".
It is very obvious that the same things will happen in any submarine: depth charges,
sea battles, etc. However, that U-571 makes everything seem fresh: no
claustrophobia, the crew takes quite well, kill everyone in sight
German, and even a destroyer. Das Boot shows a boat destroyed,
terribly strained relations, a sense of quiet despair and resignation. Where
U-571 plays glorious fanfare, Das Boot counters with powerful silence. Where
Das Boot puts dirt, U-571 substitutes quite expensive. When Das Boot has
realism, not U-571.

But most insulting of all, where the British should have been, U-571
intelligently substitutes with U.S. soldiers. Oh, the nerve.

In a nutshell: this movie makes it a great surround sound demo disk, or a nice
coaster. Hollywood remains CLUELESS when it comes to waging war
films. If a future historian only had U.S. War films based on history,
declared resolutely that the rest of the world sub-human idiots, and the U.S.
civilization as a more evolved race. One theory
