John Holmes was the world 'biggest porn star in every sense of
world, but after fame came a basic life of drugs and crime to obtain
. One of those jobs was a robbery and murders in Laurel Canyon in
1981. With police investigating the violent
after the robbery, carried David Lind who told a story of how Holmes

proved to be a robbery angle of Eddie Nash, Nash leads to revenge the murder of

With a style and intriguing trailer, I was hoping that the
film and, despite going back and forth rapidly in the movies I
to catch on DVD. I'm not sure the true story of John Holmes and
after this movie I'm none of the wise men on the truth even basic facts.
The film plays with the truth in the same manner as Rashomon (or
fanboys - Hero), not having the same story told several ways
of different characters. In some ways this is not enough to keep the story moving and
keeps it interesting enough to watch, with the brutal
"truth" is a scenario very hard to see, but as a story Total
is unsatisfactory. Attempts to bring issues surrounding
John's relationship with Sharon felt too rushed and not worked, as well as his relationship with Dawn
was not very well managed. With four writers in
work, it's easy to see that part of this commitment, but as this does not excuse
. With so many characters and delivered half the threads in
film that is forced to make about 7 or 8 cards text at the end
to explain what has happened to everyone - although this is interesting
shows the failure in the film that these things should have been better
woven into the film because it felt like he had left more than half the
history until these cards.

however, the margin part of the main issues on the plot of jobs actually works very well and
Rashomon approach works well to maintain interest

broader themes and issues that actually worked better than they did
then this would have been a much better movie, but this is not Boogie Nights and
Attempts to broaden the picture simply do not come together.
This is not the fault of the cast, as we all do fairly well
although some of them are given virtually nothing to work. Kilmer
is good with what he has and, if left, actually manages to bring sadness to
Holmes in a convincing manner.

Bosworth is not as good and I've never bought turn - no doubt his performance
Dawn made the jump to the actions of 6 months after this story
seems impossible that I had ended and the feeling that he had played only
all evil.

Kudrow still has one more step away from me and should

? She is a very short time but it coincides with their makeup and
comes across as tired and injured. Nelson and Luke are good
but I was more surprised by McDermott, who was good and
almost unrecognizable. Participation Fisher is a mystery to me and his early

Overall this is an interesting and attractive film that works well as an
crime thriller crossed with a Rashomon saying. But attempts to open
history and the participation of broader issues of Holmes' life rather
