I find it very amusing that so many Americans were outraged that
Lars von Trier had the audacity to criticize his country without having visited
. After all, we do all the time, right?
Millions of us are quite content to sit on our couches and criticize China, North Korea,
Zimbabwe, Israel and many other countries without having visited
its shores. And we are perfectly justified to do so. So why should
Von Trier was vilified for criticizing americas
a few thousand miles away? Well, of course, I do not think it should. The
is perfectly entitled to his opinion, and those who weep and moan are symptomatic of the americas
biggest problem - his inability to take criticism without
get their pants in a twist. Undoubtedly, every great country must prosper
to criticism. We need to help grow and develop. But instead of americas
seem to resemble a child sometimes, spouting phrases like useless,
"America: love it or leave it" or "You're either with us or against
Us. " It is therefore a film like Dogville, which refuses to Revel
hole in the American Dream, is of vital importance, and is a film that
should be embraced, not rejected.

But anyway, what the critics seem to overlook is the fact that
Dogville could be a small town anywhere. It may be the first
part in an American trilogy, but the small town with its values

The film begins and ends with a God's eye view of the proceedings and
is not hard to imagine that Von Trier is looking down on
characters, judging them. In fact, as he himself said Tom, everything is a
game, a test, and Von Trier is the one who pulls the strings.

The game begins when Grace comes into the city. The townsfolk are scared
, but Tom thinks it's a gift. He wants to see if
Dogville has a problem with your acceptance. Well, at first,
citizens are understandably cautious, but are ultimately placated when Grace
proves that she can help them out. And to top it develops
a good relationship with the city and its citizens. But even in
from the relationship is far from being equal. She may like the whole world,
but she needs a slave. However, the townsfolk as their best as this, when she is happy
subordinate.

As the film progresses, the city is more proof. The police post
wanted posters and accuse Grace of crimes that she could not have committed
(as in the city at the time). But instead this

happily trapped in a quagmire, but once she arrives everything changes.
The whole world is facing its mediocrity and the whole world the lies are exposed
. In a scene McKay, having finally admitted his

The end is certainly bleak, but I think it compels us to take
a hard look at ourselves. How often have we taken advantage of other people
when I should have helped? How often have been our selfish intentions? And the grace
final actions suggest one thing for me: if someone

I started to look Dogsville and felt like it was turning .. after all,
what kind of film could not happen with the scenery? No. doors ..
seemed like a kind of game / movie hybrid, but after a shortwhile
all those things until they faded right away I realized how much I would have lost if I had turned off
- is Now one of my favorite movies of all time.

Why? It is so brave for humanity as critics and recognize how this
'dark' in a race that really are - no matter how much each of us to profess
being "good", we all know that most of us are not at all. For
this movie is a woman who learns the hard truth of cold in a place where
expected to find the goodness that his faith told
there. And then not find it, he discovered that even within its
lay a wrath that echoed the darkness that she herself does not want
feature so dominant in our race. And the biggest proof of this is
