I have never read the book, I read only a small handful of Stephen King's works
... are generally is not my preferred genre. I could go
here, but I do not think most of you care if you're reading this.
Well, I liked the movie. I would like an assessment at around 7 or 8 per
pure entertainment factor. Of course, there were some scenes that were a little thin
, there were a few elements of dialogue (sp: I'm Canadian, eh?)
That were a little weak. However, since he did not even know it was an SK
movie, I had absolutely no predisposition concerning this movie.
In fact, I had not even considered any of the short synopsis or in connection with
this movie ... I was totally green enter it. And I found
very entertaining. I liked to see a bunch of characters whom
I am not entirely familiar with, and I appreciated the casting of a few
knows.
enjoyment: 8 Cast: Acting 8: 6 for some 7 or 8 for others. Dialogue: 6
CGI in general: 7 (very good, but lots of 'off screen' things)
Total: 7
The first third of Dreamcatcher worth the time. Four childhood friends
make his annual trip to a hunting cabin, strange things happen, and
before you know it, you are smack-DAB in the world of Stephen King, in his Most
gaily dark comedy and grotesque. Is flatulence, bloody fun at
page,
Goldman and has no problem translating this awful orgy of gas and guts
of novel to screenplay. As the screenplay product
strays from the book to the point where the film becomes a shame Hollywood
epic proportions.
Dreamcatcher The novel has also failed in its second half, but what keeps you
reading the book was the mind games going on in the main character,
Jonesy ' s
(Damian Lewis) head. Jonesy brain and the body has been taken hostage by an alien called
, Mr Gray. In the novel, Jonesy warnings Gray
become tempted by the traps of mankind, and it uses to his advantage. It's fun to watch
abroad yearning various human indulgences, more and more, with
each passing minute. This aspect of the novel is completely eliminated from the
film, leaving us with nothing more than Damian Lewis, playing both Jonesy
and Mr Gray, making silly faces, and put in ridiculous accents, since it goes
Between the two characters.
The second act of the film, one that takes place in a concentration camp for
American citizens who may or may not be contaminated with an alien virus, is not
more than a shadow of what is shown in the book. Even the shoddiest of
cliffnote "perpetrators" are ashamed to condense a novel
this elemental form.
In the book, the head of the camp, Abraham Colonel Kurtz, played in the film
by Morgan Freeman, was an unpleasant man, ie only the tip was < br> frightening, his first appearance in his past. In the film, we
aware of the fact that he has lost, but almost exclusively through
exposure, rather than action. The sight of these innocent civilians locked
like the animals is worrying in the novel, and make for a tense
central part of this movie, if this film had dared to any tension.
In King's Dreamcatcher, people trapped in camps unite,
with the help of the telepathic Dr. Henry Devlin, the film played by Thomas Jane
, and start a mass uprising against the guards. At the same time,
Devlin is working on Colonel Kurtz is more aware subordinates, both
through words and the power that he, along with Jonesy, Pete and Beaver, was given by a
mysterious fifth friend, Duddits. In the film, lifting
never happens, and it feels as if each of the scenes of concentration camp
were put into the movie to pad out, while giving a plum role in
Morgan Freeman.
I will not give away the end, either the novel or movie, but I will say
that everything's fine with finishing the book form of Dreamcatcher, is < br> noticeably absent from the film version. Instead of an emotionally moving
climax, we have a bad CGI-fest that reminded me a little Godzilla VS.
King Kong, or perhaps even species 2. Although I found myself squirming in
laziness displayed during most of the second half of the image,
I was still undecided as to whether or not I would recommend it. The bad
last-minute film made up my mind.
This is the first film I can think of that I can only recommend to
patches.
Drink a couple of gallons of water before going to the image, and run
to the bathroom to leave out, when things start getting stupid.
If you're a fan of horror, you can enjoy the first hour of the film. The
bathroom sequence is a masterpiece closely and, for that alone, Lawrence Kasdan
are praiseworthy. Kasdan also deals with flashback scenes,
with the four main characters as children, adequately enough to get my
thumb working its way to "up" direction. Finally, during those few
Kasdan sometimes not lead us into the brains of Jonesy, it does so in an incredibly
interesting, often humorous, way.
When Jonesy leaves the relative safety of the locked room that has nuzzled
deep within his brain, only to find the evil that hides behind
boxes of stored memories within its deposit account, which really gave me chills
.
fear More moments like this, placed throughout the film, Kasdan and May
have its first instant classic in a long time.
There was a lot of money and time put into Dreamcatcher, and that shows in the
screen. Steve Johnson's work on versions of the puppet "s *** weasels"
is extremely effective, and demonstrates once again that nothing can be done CG,
human hands can do better things. The GC is not the best I've seen, but
is much less cartoony than any of the last two Star Wars prequels
and does the job very well, although I would have enjoyed much impact
More, if the GC was not a part of them. The photography John Seale (The English Patient
, The talented Mr. Ripley, Witness) is fantastic, but not
emphasize enough to make the Director of Photography on the star of the film
, < br> Caleb Deschanel as the work he did in the recent semi-stink,
The Hunted.
What we end up with is a beautiful film that feels hollow.
