In Jersey City, an African American hit man follows "Hagakure: The Way of the Samurai." He lives alone, in simplicity with homing pigeons for company, calling himself Ghost Dog. His master, who saved his life eight years ago, is part of the local mob. When the boss' daughter witnesses one of Ghost Dog's hits, he becomes expendable. The first victims are his birds, and in response, Ghost Dog goes right at his attackers but does not want to harm his master or the young woman. On occasion, he talks with his best friend, a French-speaking Haitian who sells ice cream in the park, and with a child with whom he discusses books. Can he stay true to his code? And if he does, what is his fate?

This is one of the strangest and most likable films I
.... I have seen and seen a lot, believe me.

Scene after scene was strange. I watched a surprise in the first
viewing, chuckling here and there. By the third point, I just
laughing out loud for much of it. The dark, subtle humor that by
this is as good as I have ever seen on film ....
although it can be graded more than a gangster movie than a comedy.

humor involving mainly the gangsters, who were a bunch of old men
Mafia. A crowd never expected this but they were pathetic characters.
Was especially fun to see again Henry Silva, a man who used to be an effective villain
back a large number of television programs in the 1960's. He did not say
much in this movie, but waiting on his face is price. The
fun guy, at least for me, was the mobster who sang and danced to rap music
!

The byplay between "Ghost Dog", the hero of the film
wonderfully played by Forest Whitaker, and the ice cream man, who only spoke French
, was also very fun and entertaining.

Almost all the characters in this case was a stranger, led by Whitaker played
a modern-day hit man who lives by the code of the ancient Samurai Warriors
. Also, trains and communicates through the pigeons. Eh!
He told me that this was a strange movie!

Violence is no-nonsense, however, none of laughter and played
Rambo-unlike-minded, people who were shot were hit and killed by the general
immediately.

Along the way in this strange story is a lesson or two on loyalty,
racism, philosophies, kindness, communication, etc. How much of this
you take seriously And how as a gag, depends on you, I suppose.
The more I watch this, the more I see it as clever put-on comedy ....
still sad. It is not easy to describe, but wind up getting involved with
these strangers.

The film is changing rapidly as Whitaker does in this story. One minute he is a bear-
brutally beaten-like men and the next minute, the kind of
souls.

A very unique film. The title seems a bit stupid and one you would readily dismiss
as moronic, but it's far from it. Great entertainment.
The film is about codes of conduct, with 2 main
codes that are dying out or are dead.

One is the code of the Mafia the other is the Samurai.

The basic plot is as follows. One of the mafia Wiseguys must be killed as he
is having an affair with the daughter of Mafia Don.

The person who comes to do is African American who lives in the
Samurai code and goes by the name of Ghost Dog. To be honest, I have met many
Japanafiles so this is not so incredible.

But the Mafia code means that if you kill a wiseguy then
must be killed or mafia person who hired him should be killed.

Jim Jarmusch makes movies where the characters close relations based on
Only very small things. The Mafia wiseguy Ghost Dogs saved his life, so now
be his retainer. He lived on earth (live in a roof, steals
vehicles and equipment it needs to do a job). There is also a
friendship between 2 people who do not speak the same language. It
the connection between people that is so important here.

If you saw the dead man and love, then you will love Ghost Dog.
It's funny, serious, dark, beautiful and tragic at the same time. Dead
man lost his mark with some similar themes (although the DVD Killed
man has some deleted scenes that have made the film much better
and better reflects the idea of small strong connections
Connections).

I loved this movie, and I do not expect everyone else. Art House
films have small audiences for this exact cause. I know that a lot of
prevent people from this movie because I thought that was affected.
The answer is, yes it is, and most of the bad reviews
reflect this same idea.

I also love the banda sound, with lots of Phat times, uses and Hip Hop
(African American culture) to reflect Japanese culture.
