Renowned adventurer Allan Quatermain (Connery) leads a team of extraordinary figures with legendary powers to battle the technological terror of a madman known as "The Fantom." This "League" comprises seafarer/inventor Captain Nemo (Shah), vampiress Mina Harker (Wilson), an invisible man named Rodney Skinner (Curran), American secret service agent Tom Sawyer (West), the ageless and invincible Dorian Gray (Townsend), and the dangerous split personality of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde (Flemyng).

Based on the graphic novel of the same name (as noted in the credits),

is not at all surprised to see the film using similar lighting, colors and
action that one would expect to find in a book comics. The characters are
enough participation, thanks to special effects that most actors and

the functions that were given. The most interesting of a character
addicts, Allan Quartermain was unfortunately wasted in the watered
"tragic hero
" Connery plays so well. Other characters were apparently better
played by their counterparts CGI agents allegedly playing
-
but one must wait two-dimensional acting on a comic book, and that's exactly what
you get.
The action is exciting and a little intense, if almost too frenetic to
times.
It is difficult to see any action at speeds shown, especially
with numerous cuts to other struggles. Nemo's fights have been

among the most spectacular, which had been held back at normal speed
humans could see. But violence is large and significant, although

with comic-book-like regularity, rarely fatal.
If you're a fan Connery, may find this passable, but not much different from
his role in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Fans of the

graphic novel will be sadly disappointed by the surprising alterations
his characters, and of course, unsurprised by the "spin" on
half.
Still, it is a pleasant (if long) two hours and attention to detail

of the sets, costumes and scenery make it almost worth
alone.
