Murder By Numbers is a psychological suspense-thriller that tells the story of a tenacious homicide detective, Cassie Mayweather ('Sandra Bullock' (qv)) and her new partner Sam Kennedy ('Ben Chaplin' (qv)) who become pitted against two malevolently brilliant young men ('Ryan Gosling (I)' (qv) and 'Michael Pitt (II)' (qv)) in an ingenious battle of wits as they try to solve a murder case.

Murder of numbers is a classic mystery involving two intellectually

offers good acting, a plot cleaver and a challenge for the intellectual exercise
spectator. This film is not a fact 'that is', rather it is a' how do they do
'? The story is like the 7 grade math, you know the answer [
that in the back of the book], but you have to work the problem in obtaining the degree. The

murder is sufficiently complex and sophisticated crime

I was not interested in Cassie's tortured past, nor me
his relationship with his assistant, Sam. These plot points
interfered with the story of two more young
hypnotized by the "philosophy" of crime.

In fact, the film focuses on works when Justin and Richard, and his
efforts for the second guess, initially the police and, subsequently, yes.
Michael Pitt (Justin) provides an adequate performance, and
Ryan Gosling (Richard) is more than convincing. I would have reduced the time spent on
Cassie and Sam, and added some back story of Justin and Richard
give viewers more insight into children motivation.

The film visual elements are sufficient. There is a good camera work in the first film and
the last twenty minutes. In keeping with the film
many film cliches, the climax is a Cliffhanger melodramatic ...
to speak. However, the suspense is gripping. I had to guess which
are going to do what to whom.

Despite a tortuous and sometimes confusing plot, "Murder by Numbers"
worth seeing for its provocative premise, its suspense, and acting from Ryan
Gosling.
