When Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu) is kidnapped and taken to americas by LO
Fong (Roger Yuan), the guard of honour at The Forbidden City is
sent to deliver the ransom and bring her back. Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) accompanies
guards on its way and is entangled with the Indians, cowboys and the attentions
greedy O'Brannon train robber Roy (Owen Wilson
).
This is essentially a film of friends matching americas
transferred to the West and in that sense is not exactly an original plot, no major twists
to grab you and a bunch of the plot drivers are forced or
predictable. But we must be honest - we do not listen to the plot! As with
movies Rush Hour, the argument is secondary to the comedy and the fight scenes
. Here
Owen Wilson comedy offers like ladrĂ³n established new trains, while Jackie Chan
expected action and comedy. The strength
here is that this is an unassuming little film that takes you by surprise. The
chemistry between Chan and Wilson is effortless and is as comfortable as the
Chan and Tucker combo. Wilson is hilarious character in a very easy way -
is so clearly out of place in the West and partly accepts it, but also
wants to be more than what it is, as one of the bad guys, "You are terrible. How
have done this time? "
Chan again shows that he is the closest thing to a modern Chaplin,
is so good to interact with Wilson as he is with the physical comedy that
is your brand. One complaint is that, as with Rush Hour,
probably could have done with a few more fight scenes. However, the comedy more
that fills any voids that are between fights.
Other members of the cast are little more than excuses for action. Roger Yuan
Xander Berkeley and his good bad (especially Berkeley), but Lucy Liu
is almost in their own little 'serious' and the film has very little to do except be
rescued (although she does not show some of her "Charlie's Angels"
potential in a fight scene toward the end).
generally a mild pleasant comedy that becomes even more enjoyable by the
ease with which it succeeds in making laugh. Chan's fights are a bit
less impressive than other films, but excels in the comedy game. One
mint is the usual outtakes at the end - unlike Rush Hour 2
are NOT fun than the rest of the film.
Apparently, this movie has been out longer than just six years but I
I remember that was one of the first modern comedy martial arts movies to be viewed on
americas North. It also introduced a much broader
English-speaking audience to the charm and talent of stars Jackie Chan in Asia,
is now known everywhere, even if it comes up for the age .
This is considered one of the best Chan films and the setting of doubt
is different than normal for him: the old American West. Good
action scenes, some solid humor, fun and the characters are nice cinematography
all the advantages. Chan spoke English so there's no need for dubbing,
anyone.
The only minus I found was the last scene of action happens too long,
but that is typical of films. However, this is a very entertaining movie
. Wlson Owen and Lucy Liu are also two major reasons for this movie
became so popular.
