(action, drama, thriller)
Navy SEAL Lieutenant A.K. Waters and his elite squadron of tactical specialists are forced to choose between their duty and their humanity, between following orders by ignoring the conflict that surrounds them, or finding the courage to follow their conscience and protect a group of innocent refugees. When the democratic government of Nigeria collapses and the country is taken over by a ruthless military dictator, Waters, a fiercely loyal and hardened veteran is dispatched on a routine mission to retrieve a Doctors Without Borders physician, Dr. Lena Kendricks. Dr. Kendricks, an American citizen by marriage, is tending to the victims of the ongoing civil war at a Catholic mission in a remote village. When Waters arrives, however, Dr. Kendricks refuses to leave unless he promises to help deliver the villagers to political asylum at the nearby border. If they are left behind, they will be at the mercy of the enormous rebel army. Waters is under strict orders from his commanding officer Captain Bill Rhodes to remain disengaged from the conflict. But as he and his men witness the brutality of the rebels first-hand, they are won over to Dr. Kendricks' cause and place their lives at risk by agreeing to escort the villagers on a perilous trek through the dense jungle. As they move through the countryside on foot, Waters' team, experts at evasion and concealment, are inexplicably and ferociously pursued by an army of rebels. They are confounded until they discover that, among the refugees, is the sole survivor of the country's previous ruling family, whom the rebels have been ordered to eliminate at all costs. Waters and his small band of soldiers must weigh the life of one man against their own and the refugees they feel obliged to protect.

Tears of the Sun is almost perfect. Director Antoine Fuqua of
management can get a bit heavy-handed and most of the characters are one to two dimensions
in development (understandable, given the large cast). But this is a solid
fact, often exciting and sometimes challenging film that aims to
serious problems, especially in a sober vision of modern warfare and
morale. It is not entirely satisfactory to the latter, but even to try to
lost typical Hollywood is admirable, and Tears of the Sun is often hardest hit
be lost.
Bruce Willis stars as AK Waters, the head of a mission to retrieve a doctor
Lena Hendricks (Monica Bellucci) from the jungle of Nigeria after Muslim rebels have killed
only Presidential family, and are on a rampage
throughout the country. Hendricks is easy, but she only
license as long as all the physical conditions of people in their mission can come along.
Waters reluctantly accepts, but soon discovers that he and his group must trek
the jungles without assistance and 300 Nigerian soldiers in hot
its path.
Tears of the Sun functions as a reflective film, but it's more like a success
tension-builder. Director Fuqua displays a hand-held order to build a tone
feverish, all the way to celebrate the battle sequence, a fifteen minute setpiece
rival any movie recent war in intensity and
technical superiority. The other big action setpiece
is a tense shootout in a village, after it was disturbing in its revelation of the
rebels' treatment of civilians. Tears of the Sun is a violent movie, but never
operating in its approach. The film
two characters better developed belong to Bruce Willis, Monica Bellucci
. Willis has always been a good actor, this approach underestimated
has worked for him before and fits like a glove. I am not so familiar with
Bellucci, who have only seen in the Brotherhood of Wolf and
as one of the brides of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but she is pretty good here,
easily the film's anchor when this is heart and warmth. I'm certainly not
exaggerating when I say that is one of the most beautiful (and bodacious)
women ever to grace the screen (and I hope it at the next
aftermath of Matrix).
there are flaws, such as non-obtrusive musical score and some
pretentious use of slow motion Fuqua on their behalf. The film's biggest stumbling
narrative comes with a plot twist 3 / 4 'sa through the film, when a
strange plot twist is evident. True, without turning the film
would not have been able to build as much suspense, much less to offer
final battle. But when all is said and done, Tears of the Sun is highly recommended
, a Hollywood movie that has more in mind that its explosion and shootings
(the film still has a large quantity).
This film is simply incredible. I have not seen in the movie, which
to see him later on DVD, regretting missing
first time round. He made some statements
incredibly powerful and was very difficult to monitor
. I rarely admit this, but I actually found parts of it so
moving that I cried! And I never mourn.
The choice of Bruce Willis was a good and plays a profound conflict
character, he plays with depth. I have seen
Monica Belucci in films before. She is an incredibly talented actress and she really
cree in this project. His character is likely to appeal to
strong religious and moral beliefs, willing to die to help and protect others
. This comes through the decisions taken and
willingness to stand firm under pressure.
Having seen the documentary on the special features of the DVD section
later, I saw the incredible length that everybody attaches
for the filming was a. Each of the actors playing Seal Team members,
went through some very real training in preparation and stayed in character
outside filming during the day. Given the commitment of
all that is attached to the film, I can see why the film is what it is.
The director, Antoine Fuqua, of the films I've seen in which
directed, brings a strong moral issue to his characters and history.
The whole visual form of filming, camera angles, etc. close ups
adds to the intensity here.
The choice of filter during filming, which gives a dim and dark
visual sensation, was perfect. The use of Africans as extras
was an interesting and a good choice, given his background. Many of these extras
showing genuine emotion that was captured on camera
because relive traumatic moments of his life when
certain scenes were filmed.
In this regard, a scene in particular made it very difficult to visualize,
but totally in context and I would expect that
provoke a strong reaction from viewers, for good reason . The battle scenes are real
kept short and selective in its global context to the film.
They are also very realistic.
La banda sonora adapts well and congratulated all the sense
the film. I would not say that this movie is entertaining,
is very difficult to see but it is a good example of that film
challenge that all clocks and who has a conscience.
After seeing this film, as well as Hotel Rwanda and Tears of the Sun, I
constantly reminded of our individual and collective moral responsibilities
in the "civilized Western world" when
the atrocities are committed. And sits wrong with my awareness that "we" in the West
done so little and so late to try to stop this kind of genocide
happening. What I am concerned I believe that all adults should see it.
