In February, 1945, one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific theater of World War II occurs on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of Marines attack the stronghold maintained by thousands of Japanese, and the slaughter on both sides is horrific. Early in the battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi, and a photograph of the raising becomes an American cause celebre. As a powerful inspiration to war-sick Americans, the photo becomes a symbol of the Allied cause. The three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley, and Ira Hayes, are whisked back to civilization to help raise funds for the war effort. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph.

I have always felt that when you fictionalize a story about war, you
Deshonrar the memory of so many people who have a history of

Drama. On the one hand, it could "feel" like a movie Clint Eastwood,
But on the other hand, feels at home in their subjects used in place of heroes -
The person behind the personage more bigger than life. These are complex
Characters in very difficult situations, and presents them in a way
That is clear and unbiased, so we have to decide left
Responses to the film's central conflict ourselves.

To a person, the cast is up to the challenge. It's hard not to admire
Ryan Phillippe for a moderate and thoughtful performance, but
Go to the real kudos Adam Beach. Almost every aspect of the character Beach

experiences tend to keep their war stories to themselves.
Clint Eastwood directed the film, and not throwing blows throughout the
scenes of battle, despite the battle for Iwo Jima was considered one
the bloodiest against the Japanese in the Pacific. The only problem I had with
Eastwood film being used too many flashbacks that
Saltó around the film and difficult to follow. The film would
Been better than Eastwood has been chronic, in the end, with some
Flashbacks. During scenes of battle, which actually see the chaos that
Soldiers encounter on the battlefield. Overall, I found the story to be very compelling and Realistic
not glorify war. This is a long
film, but time passes very quickly. This film will receive many
Oscar Nominations. Some of the movie is violent and graphic shows the
dark side of war, war and the effects it has on our soldiers returning.
