When his wife (Laura Linney) discovers a writing talent of her own, jealousy divides the family, leaving two teenage sons to forge new relationships with their parents. Linney's character begins dating her younger son's tennis coach. Meanwhile, Daniels' character has an affair with the student his older son is pursuing.

A friend of mine is reluctant to see this film, because she had heard
pushes the agenda that divorce is never a good option for

Caught in the middle of this mess are their two children. The oldest

Own. The youngest child, more sensitive and tired of being intellectually
Front beaten by his father and his older brother, sticks closer to the mother.
Nobody is entirely to blame, yet no one is entirely innocent or

Noah Baumbach has not hidden the fact that it is based on his own life
Teens, and has faith that feeling that the films
In this genre usually do. There are moments in this clumsy
not totally work. The purpose is rather to a ham-fisted, and a
scene between the eldest son and his therapist of the school seems terribly
Pat to me. However, the acting and writing are the strength of these
Weaknesses, and the film achieves be moving without ever becoming too sentimental or
Maudlin.

See that the actions of Linney, and especially Daniels, who has
Been demonstrating its versatility as an actor in recent years.
