Esteemed criminal lawyer Sir Wilfrid Robarts has just returned to practice after suffering a heart attack and is supposed to be on a diet of bland civil suits. But the case of Leonard Vole, a charmer accused of murdering a rich middle-aged widow, proves irresistible — particlularly when Sir Wilfrid meets the accused's wife, the remarkable Christine Vole. Christine will appear as a witness: not the defense, but for the prosecution.

I am not sure that they have the ability to adequately praise this film. The History
original brief (and not without complications, in fact) has been expanded
In a magnificent example of Hollywood entertainment at its best. In addition to
perhaps the best line-up of players ever
Assembled (along with Cukor David Copperfield, that is), we get Laughton
Dietrich and at the top of its form. The person who criticizes
Lanchester's performance as "disturbing" missed the point entirely. Miss Plimsoll
is intended to be annoying! Also, what is with all
- Mouthing bad Tyrone Power? "Hammy", "terrible", "worst performance
Never." These are the comments perceptive IMDb? Only one has received
law: it is because Leonard Vole is the hammy acting, not Power!
For 95% of the film, the character is lying low, only showing their
True colors at the end. Of course it is hammy: Vole is not a
born actor and his wife. And for all those who believe that the caller all this movie
Mediocre and predictable, I look forward to his next film projects
I am sure that paragons of excellence and worth
Along with classics of the golden age.
A film that I have not seen in years, but always remember with
Afición. A classic thriller with all the right ingredients - Power and
Dietrich is spectacular, and at the beginning of the rules (and recent),

Charles Laughton however, provides us with a chuckle as glib ageing
Defence lawyer ruled by its supreme cleaning. One distraction that only
It joins an excellent plot line.
I can not imagine another film gender and age, how inicuamente
Entangles essential thriller with a 'crime of passion' (oops, spot
plot murderer ...) gem. A classic.
Film for lovers of true cinema. I am quite the!
