(action, adventure, drama, war)
It is the height of the war in Vietnam, and U.S. Army Captain Willard (Sheen) is sent by Colonel Lucas (Harrison Ford) and a General to carry out a mission that, officially, 'does not exist - nor will it ever exist'. The mission: To seek out a mysterious Green Beret Colonel, Walter Kurtz (Brando), whose army has crossed the border into Cambodia and is conducting hit-and-run missions against the Viet Cong and NVA. The army believes Kurtz has gone completely insane and Willard's job is to eliminate him! Willard, sent up the Nung River on a U.S. Navy patrol boat, discovers that his target is one of the most decorated officers in the U.S. Army. His crew meets up with surfer-type Lt-Colonel Kilgore (Duvall), head of a U.S Army helicopter cavalry group which eliminates a Viet Cong outpost to provide an entry point into the Nung River. After some hair-raising encounters, in which some of his crew are killed, Willard, Lance (Bottoms) and Chef (Forrest) reach Colonel Kurtz's outpost, beyond the Do Lung Bridge. Now, after becoming prisoners of Kurtz, will Willard & the others be able to fulfill their mission?

So what is crazy 'Apocalypse Now'? Well, let's say
is the kind of movie that makes you want to beat your head against the wall. The
principle has no credits or diplomas; nothing. The entire film seems
that is taking place in a different world, and as history moves, sanity itself
is shed. There was a French plantation scene that has been cut, and a
alternate ending that would have been a huge battle scene outside
Kurtz's compound.
'Apocalypse Now' is not a realistic film in the sense that the presentation
of the Vietnam War is far from being correct: the helicopter before going to
napalm strikes, USO show in the jungle at night, and the last bridge all
- lit like a Christmas tree. (for more realistic 'Nam war movies, try'
The Deer Hunter "or" Platoon ")
But what 'Apocalypse Now & # 39; lacks historical accuracy, constitutes
artistic and dramatic scripting. Some of the best photography and lighting
never can be found here.
The film also poses serious philosophical questions, and gives us a whole
new ones. When the film begins, is the war raging around us. It
chaotic and nerve-racking, and yet rational. When I finally arrive at the base
Kurtz, the action has died, but rational thinking has long been
up until the point of total madness. This shows us the truth about
men of war during wartime and peace. The journey along the river has a sense of
travel time (that would have been much more evident the French had
Plantation remains scene.) And when you reach the end, keep in mind the
old phrase: The King is dead ... Long live the king
.
Kurtz crazy? Or do they still not ready to understand him?
These questions and more will be up to you as' Apocalypse Now
not have easy answers.
I'm starting to get tired when I hear the expression "Director's Cut". Some of them are
good as Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner", but William Friedkin
totally screwed
until the end of "exorcism" in its restored version, but this is still
worse. "Apocalypse Now" was very well done and it seems that Coppola was
in creative when he made his first film (which has completed the "Godfather I
& II" and " ; The Conversation "and then never even comes close to anything
after forcing it) simply decided to desicrate this movie.
Should have realized that he was a director much better when he made "Apocalypse Now?
then is today, and to cut the scenes in question
a good reason.
-I love the extra footage Col. Kilgore, but with Willard
steal his surfboard and then laugh with joy as a frat boy was not totally in his character and is best
Leave the cutting room floor.
-The playboy bunnies extra scene is beyond ridiculous. It was not even
inserted into the film correctly. One minute is a sunny day is Willard
Colonel Kurt reading the letter to his son and looking at a picture of Kurtz,
and then suddenly it's raining and come across the army camp. Willard
offers two drums of deisel fuel in exchange for sex to boys in
boat. Once again .. totally out of character for Willard, and
completely unbelievable as a whole. Theres a clumsy scene five minutes with men and
the bunnies and then FLASH his back on the boat again, rain is not
Willard and you're looking at the same picture of Kurtz once again
edition terrible! Afterwhich is the place to come across the
Vietnamese supply ship and kill passengers. The impact of this scene is taken outside
as the motivations of the crew are not so understandable since. Also
when
Willard kills Vietnamese women injured because he is in a hurry to get
moving, it makes no sense now. It is not too big a hurry in the previous
scene that has made treatment for men who have sex with the bunnies
????< br>
-The French Plantation sequence is too looooonngg . Willard (his
table) wondered why the family is still in Vietnam, which receives a
twenty minutes response by all on the table, since shouting back and forth
in each other. Then, suddenly ends with this French woman, while the
spews banda sonora very sappy music. I wonder what happened to the cinema
throughout this sequence the river .... .... .... Colonel Kurtz war?
After watching this dreadful sequence I said to myself "the horror, the horror
."
extra-The scene with Brando reading Time magazine is also futile.
Kurtz also see the character in broad daylight, instead of the shadows
figure they were confined to the original version takes its
apprehension.
All these scenes add nothing to the film, except the extreme length. I tend to
long as movies, but not when they are injected with senseless scenes, the film
previous 2 1 / 2 hour length is perfect for him. I will keep my old
DVD original "Apocalypse Now". I hope that someday the release of two albums
set for this movie. It will be the original version to
2:35 to 1 aspect ratio
. And another disc with trailers, "Heart of Darkness a filmaker's
Revelation", and that may even throw in the extra "Redux" scenes in a
deleted scenes option only for laughs.
STICK WITH THE ORIGINAL! As for "Apocalypse Now Redux" is, for me,
this version does not exist ... nor will there ever.
