Duets is a road-trip comedy which revolves around the little known world of karaoke and the whimsical characters who inhabit it. There's the struggling singer who dreams of making it to the big time, a frustrated salesman who ends up on an unexpected road trip, the dysfunctional family performers which includes a con-artist (Huey Lewis) and his long lost daughter, and an escaped convict (Andre Braugher) with the voice of an angel. All roads lead to Omaha, site of a national karaoke competition where this motley group of singers and stars come together for a blow-out sing-off.

I often wonder why I see so many movies, and why I love. It is not
because they often explore new territories or challenge my intellect, but then there are all
a public library and a Barnes and Noble in every commercial strip
why. No, I think that should be the delight of escapist allow myself
be absorbed by a couple of hours in a well-designed imaginary world where
incredible things happen to people unrealistic. It's a guilty pleasure,
but hey, sometimes eat my dessert first. I can handle
guilt.

With that said, as guilty pleasures go, this is a dessert of bananas to divide
two with more nuts and cherries. And a spoon. Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow are incomparable
a father daughter team trying to get to know
in the karaoke circuit. He is a karaoke Hustler (who knew) and
she is a third generation of Las Vegas showgirl who is both mundane and
naive.

Paul Giamatti is a shock. It's incredible how frustrated the seller that
"for a pack of cigarettes." Along the way, encounters
Reggie Kane (Andre Braugher), a convict on the lam whose quiet desperation is a
Giamatti contrast with the cruel abandonment.

Maria Bello is hilarious as the bohemeian resources chasing a dream of big money
. Angie Dickenson through the scene with a tasty cameo. And then there
singing. OK, Todd Rundgren unconcerned
Giamatti's version of the classic "Hello, I am", and Andre used a voice, but
Gwyneth really can sing, and his duet with Babyface on the closing credits
Is a diagram Topper in anyone's book.

of Gwyneth's father Bruce, in his first feature film since he graduated from
the small screen, the word "Duets" describes this fun movie
more ways than one. But in the end, the duo matters is only you and
this wonderful little film.
