Passing himself as a single father, he starts to meet a string of single mums, confident in his ability to leave them behind when they start to ask for a commitment. But Will's hope of a continued bachelorhood is interrupted when he meets 12-year old Marcus, in many ways his complete opposite.

I was a little scared about what kind of treatment Chris and Paul Weitz has
taking into account the great novel by Nick Hornby. I must report that he has done a great job
to bring to the screen with the help of screenwriter, Peter Hedges
III. It's unbelievable what they have achieved in translating the book to the screen
and not lose attention on the possibility of doing so. A large number of brains
Hollywood should take note of what was achieved in this movie.

Hugh Grant hits the right amount of hipness, confusion and total lack of responsibility
in its interpretation of Will. He is an actor who brings
the right attitude in carrying a man over London in search of women, no matter where
. He is a prowl in search of the woman who will fall prey to his charms
. Grant is just perfect for this role.

The biggest surprise, however, was the surprise debut of Nicholas Hoult, who
we only bowled over as Marcus, the "boy" of the title. This young actor has
a great career ahead of him if people behind him in the lead vehicle
right because it is only natural. Grant gives a run for their money
. The chemistry of their time together on screen is basically what is
in the book while reading.

Toni Collette plays another mother. Once again, his interpretation was Fiona
blank. Rachel Weisz adds beauty to the film as Rachel.
Someone should take a good look at this beautiful woman and perhaps give and Hugh Grant
another vehicle where they can shine once again.
This film really came as a surprise to me. I had read the book shortly
before I saw him and when I heard Hugh Grant is going to the stars and
Weitz brothers were chosen to lead I do not exactly have high hopes. I thought
"American Pie" was fun and everything but this kind of story
demanded someone more mature, someone intelligent. This film, however, proved to be everything that:
mature, intelligent, witty, sensitive, honest and, above all, great fun in
so natural. Hugh Grant has never been better in any role before or since and
la banda sonora de Badly Drawn Boy is perfect for the film.
The only thing that was little Overd Toni Collette's character.
I've never seen a person like that in real life. What I did was how they changed
the end of the film. Usually, that is not a good idea but
totally worked here. After all, I still liked "High Fidelity"
a little better (the film, not the book), but "About a child" is very close. If
are just as a big fan of this book / movie as I do, get the DVD. There are deleted scenes
wonderful in it, which is amusing as the rest of the film.
