Set in the Los Angeles Police Department in April 1992, Dark Blue is a dramatic thriller that takes place just days before the acquittal of four white officers in the beating of black motorist Rodney King and the subsequent L.A. riots. In this racially-charged climate,the LAPD's elite Special Investigations Squad (SIS) is assigned a high-profile quadruple homicide. As they work the case, veteran detective Eldon Perry, known for his tough street tactics and fiery temper, tutors SIS rookie Bobby Keough in the grim realities of police intimidation and corruption. Meanwhile, Assistant Chief Holland, the only man in the department willing to stand up to the SIS, threatens to end Perry's brand of singlehanded "justice" on the Los Angeles streets. While navigating through the tumultuous neighborhoods of South Central L.A., Perry and Keough must track down cold-blooded killers and face their own demons, which prove to be more ruthless than the criminals they pursue.

As the trial of officers accused of beating Rodney King in place
background, LA sits on a knife edge of tension. Meanwhile, hardline
cop
Eldon Perry celebrates its partner being cleaned to operate outside
procedure and the pair returned to work. When they are put into a robbery
homicide case all the signs point to a pair of informants used by
Captain Jack Van Meter, but he assured them that they were not said to find and
someone more than a pin. But Perry's partner Bobby Keough
has a change of heart and the cracks begin to show as gusts of Louisiana
within
flames.

This film was a bit overwhelmed when he left. I agree that this is a solid
cop thriller that rises above the recent offerings of the genre, but

to give as much praise because it got at the moment is to give More than

it deserves. The basic plot is on two levels. At the first level of the film is

on police corruption and sees a corrupt house of cards
teetering on the brink of collapse
. This bit works well and the police thriller element

works well even if treads familiar ground. The second level is the

bottom of the Rodney King trial and the LA riots. This aspect is very
wallpapers and made me feel really was not necessary that the main narrative

to work. In the best case congratulated the current tensions between the community and

policemen, at worst a distraction from the main idea.

Russell gives one of his best results in recent years and

is not afraid to be a little main character. However, the rest of the

cast, or are not as good or not so well used. Speedman has to carry

majority of the moral weight of the film and is clearly too heavy for him and
can not do so convincingly. Rhames is simply not used very well and is almost

complementary to the needs. Gleeson is miscast - he is an actor capable

but the film is required to be a generation of Perry, in fact

them were the same age more or less. Michele is sexy and is reasonably well

used by a supporting character and Kurupt is good, even if he is playing the character played
daily in his rapper personae.

Overall it was a superior cop thriller that was nice. This

did a reasonable job searching for the real-life issues of corruption in the LAPD

but not as well as other tests might have led you to believe -

This is more a wallpaper or simply a topic that is used to underpin the narrative
instead of a real good look at the historical moment.
