For three weeks, 14-year-old Hayley Stark has been chatting on-line with 'Lensmaster319', a 32-year old fashion photographer, named Jeff. The two agree to meet at a coffee shop called Nighthawks. They hit it off, despite the massive age difference. Hayley appears to flirt with Jeff, and Jeff generally restrains himself, even admitting that he must wait 4-years until he can be with her. But his reservations are apparently not enough to decline when Hayley all but invites herself over to his house. Once at the house, manipulation becomes the name of the game, and the pedophile seems to be on the non-traditional side of it.

I just pick in this movie LGF yesterday evening. I was very intrigued by
the first forty minutes. Then everything kind of fell apart for me. In his
best moments of this film explores the complexities of revenge and
psychology. It tries to be clever pulling a role investment - but
latter carries thin and dialogue becomes didactic and contrived
. I still think it is worth seeing for the strength of the
driving alone. Patrick Wilson does a good job as a "suspicion" paedophile. The two
gets sympathy and disgust. Ellen Page as
girl is absolutely fantastic. His performance is brilliant, and sometimes even frightening
. She is good, even when the script can not match his talent. I
We look forward to her in many films to come. Finally
a young actress who is more than just a pretty face - I'm so tired of
Natalie Portmans, the Hillary Duffs and Jessica Albas
of the world. Good luck with your career Mrs Page.

In total, Hard Candy is worth seeing. Maybe I'm just a sucker for films with
tiny molds and real-time pace. But there are some really
moments of suspense in the film, although in the hands of lesser actors these scenes
disintegrate. And although I was annoyed
of contrivances and implausibilities of the script, I found
the next day thinking about some of the issues raised therein.

Sometimes Hard Candy reminded me of Polanski's death and the Maiden, although
HC is not nearly as good. Ellen Page
Haley's character is similar to Sigourney Weaver's character in the film by Polanski. Both women are terrifying
through the cold precision of his revenge. The problem with Haley
character is that she would have to be supernatural
to achieve the things it does in this movie. And of course if
supernatural, we have a completely different film
in our hands - High Plains Drifter.
I saw this movie last night in a free sample and was completely blown away
. I did not expect it to be something more than a murder cliches
history. How wrong I was! The story moves along the subject at a pace,
cinematography is beautiful (simple and complex at the same time.
A perfect balance.) Is very credible. I do not think anyone
enjoy this movie because the audience I saw it was a mixture of people
a series of different socioeconomic backgrounds and around the world
seemed like what they saw. The only aspect of the film
concerns me is that the main character will be seen as a kind of
incarnation of an angry, man-hating feminist, rather than a girl who is in a
mission to erase the horrors of paedophilia. People who saw him
agree that they were nervous that the film will only reinforce
cultural attitudes about men as hating feminist, psycho bitches, which
is simply a generalization. But it is possible to eliminate attitude toward
and the film is quite good. I really liked. Thumbs up.
