The standard story of Robin Hood: Evil Prince John is oppressing the people while good King Richard is away on the Crusades. Robin steals from the tax collectors, wins an archery contest, defeats the Sheriff, and rescues Maid Marian. In this version, however, Mel Brooks adds his own personal touch, parodying traditional adventure films, romance films, and the whole idea of men running around the woods in tights.

This is undoubtedly one of the best films of Mel Brooks, along with
Spaceballs (although I will openly admit to not having seen many other
, at least yet). It is very funny and thoroughly entertaining, there
barely more than a few minutes throughout the entire two-hour running time,
when you're not entertaining. Almost all the jokes have a great
comic effect, some of them fall flat. I saw this movie right after seeing
and revise Spy Hard, and compare these two movies parody,
realize exactly how high quality this movie really is. Curiously
from start to finish, none of the comedy is exaggeration or boring.
The music is wonderful, like the choreography and dancing
fighting. He is quite what we normally expect from this kind of movie
... Elwes is a great comedian, and is a good point
Robin. The plot is typical of Robin Hood, more or less everything from the legend is
fit into this movie (and largely false). If you like Mel Brooks
, or you're just a fan of silly humor, or you're just dying
see a good parody of the legend of Robin Hood, this is definitely the movie for you
. The first HBO special look in the film is also worth
television, and that you may want to continue to watch throughout the
credits, too. I'd recommend to any fan of Mel Brooks movies, and
for people who enjoy silly humor. 7 / 10
