After distinguishing himself in any number of memorable supporting roles
, Jack Black finally comes into its own in "The School of Rock", a
sporadically amusing comedy that is part "Sister Act" and Part
brilliant parody of all those movies about a "super teacher"
that brings meaning and purpose to the lives of their students.

Black plays Dewey Finn, an aging rock'n'roll
which is still waiting for that moment when "make big" in the music world. Lives
with Ned Schneebly, his old friend rocker, who has negotiated on their
dreams of musical glory of a pressing girlfriend and a job as
substitute teacher. Desesperada the money to pay the rent, Dewey
intended to be Schneebly and takes a job as a sub in a Snooty, given the tradition
prep school, where the last thing the administration and parents want is
Jimmy Hendricks, a knockoff teaching their children. And since
Dewey really only know one thing, this uncredentialed teachers
imposter decides to rock and roll the sole focus of their curriculum,
convert these inward, shy, nerdish children in a banda de rock feasible - all
under the radar screen of the ever-vigilant administrators and parents
of course. Although

history Wends their way along a predictable path,
writer Mike White and director Richard Linklater find a lot of heat
and humor in the material. Dewey's absolute obsession with rock music and rock
history is reflected in the fact that leads members
de la banda in a prayer to the "god of rock" before a concert, and
screams in frustration - "What have been teaching children in this school?" - when
discovers that his students have never been educated in the basics of
Hendricks, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Dewey is so preposterously
well-intentioned and good-natured that the public can not help but root for
he and his students as they embark on their mad quest to appear on a local
battle of the bands competition, without the knowledge of
powers-that-be in school.

Children playing students are all winners and charming, and Joan Cusack
cuts a sympathetic figure as the uptight school principal
which houses a little Stevie Nicks under its Prim and proper
abroad. But Black is that makes this movie over and becoming what they
could have been a caricature in buffoonish
fully rounded human being. Black is not afraid to cut loose and take over when the screen
necessary, hitting the heights of mania rampant match for the captain, Jim Carrey
. However, it also realizes that he is part of a joint effort
here and understands the importance of integrating itself to the material and
not always dominate. As a result, even though some
elements of the movie fall flat, since they often do, is always there to prop Black
the film a backup.

"The School of Rock" is an entertaining comedy bit, but unlike a real
satire that skewer the conventions of the genre is
attack, this film loses its nerve and winds up to approve
conventions. Dewey, for all his defiance to talk about "The Man" is actually a rebel
in name only, and the film reflects the kind of feel-good populism
not true that hardliners would be caught dead iconoclastic
Support. I think that is too much to expect that a major Hollywood comedy
to launch a real savage assault on mainstream values (in the form of
rock at its best, is often the case). However, it might be nice to come
across the unexpected at some point (after all, films like "Dr. Strangelove
" and "MASH" were able to do so).

Until then, we settle for what we can achieve. And Jack Black
is good enough for now.
Oh, how best to convey the majesty that is Richard Linklater '
School of Rock', starring Jack Black and Joan Cusack? Perhaps I could say that rocked?
Nah, too obvious. Maybe I could talk about music? Nah, anyone can see

what was the banda sound just by looking at the corresponding page IMDb.

Perhaps I should say how excited I am still guilty of having enjoyed this movie much more

that all things and Arthouse Oscar-bait I've seen this year - but
the film does seem like a guilty pleasure, and there is nothing wrong
holding his head high and say that love Linklater, Black, Cusack, Mike White
writer and co-star Sarah Silverman.

Or maybe - just maybe - I could say that when I came to last night,
I felt deliriously happy and excited and happy for the spell that this
the film --
this silly, sentimental little commercial movie - had thrown to me.

This is a feel good when the film feels good is actually ending the best part,

rather than a syrupy, predictable disappointment. The characters have deserved damn
that the happy ending, and want to get so bad, even as Linklater adds
enough grace notes harsh reality to let you know that our heroes have not

success. And he sells it, too.

Until recently, playfully incorporate more philosophical Linklater film
was his glorious 70s set comedy "Confused and dazed" (1993).

Dewey Finn, the central character in this movie, played by Jack Black as an extension of
goofier Jack Black, feels like one of those guys that
cinema
all grown -- or rather, not grown. Dewey still in power cree
rock to change lives, to change the world, even - But the man has
ground
spirit. Many reviews note how Mike White's script
not really seem to believe in the power of rock as much as Dewey ago, and it is true that
'School of Rock' is just one meter missive from the scene
like, say
, Alex Cox's films are rock. But that's intentional. Dewey
is adrift without a "scene" back to him, and he slowly has to accept that not
there is nothing I can do about the fact that the man rules the world.

All you can do is build their small corner of it.

and build it. Dewey's bold plan is to raise as a substitute teacher
and use that children under their tutelage to form the banda Rocker
more than ever were - The School of Rock - and its coup-old outside la banda stage

in the Battle of the Bands. What's good about children is
a microcosm of what is good about the film - the audience never laughs at them, always with

them, and their appreciation of music is sincere and unaffected. Children are not
actors (such as children of Fernando Meirelles and Katia Lund '
City of God "), chosen for their musical ability, and is a joy to see their fingers dexterously
dance around a panoply of instruments. They rock, too
-
so many movies about music are carried by the uncomplicated nature of their bands
fiction, but if the School of Rock is a real banda, man, I

buy your CD in a heartbeat.

The other good quality shared by children and the film is this, but both
know their things and, while respecting the structure of a formula comedy,
esoteric sufficiently intelligent and parodies are thrown into the tickling even more
annals of rock lovers. The references can get as dark as the hilarious
innumerable operas, wines and psychology in-jokes in 'Frasier' is simply

deals in a different area. Therefore, get waxing lyrical about the Dewey
Yes keyboard solos in songs, film clips of Angus Young and Keith Moon shows
without being listed are for the public, and the winner banda

In the Battle of sound climate similar to hilariously
inexplicably popular post-grunge whingers Staind.

'School of Rock' captures the giddy thrill of being young and cocky

and creative as any film I've seen, but offers the best performance
date of Jack Black, a whirlpool, limit-psychotic, hilariously hammy
tornado ripping through the film, but allows the frequency underused Joan Cusack
to be fun and sexy, even within the confines of an "authority"
role;
is the best movie about rock and roll from 'This Is Spinal Tap' and
happens in transporting Linklater's style, imagination and vital humanity
into the mainstream without compromising in a way that, for example, the Coen brothers

have yet to do. All interested persons should be given a pat on the back

or better still, a large, sweaty, after the action group hug.
