Based on a true story, the movie tells of the struggle of a dance teacher, Pierre Dulain (Antonio Banderas), to give to a group of problem kids a second chance by exploring their dance skills. One night Dulain is astonished to see a boy, Rock (Rob Brown) destroying his school director's car. The following day Dulaine goes to the school to ask for a job as a dance teacher. The director has little confidence in Dulaine's idea of helping kids (including Rock) in detention to reform through ballroom dance classes. Even the kids, who prefer hip-hop or rap, think it isn't a great idea. Despite criticism from students in his formal dance academy as well as from parents and fellow teachers who believe that the kids need more math and less dance, Dulain catches the students' attention with a tango session. After their initial indifference, they eventually compete in a dance contest; the important thing isn't winning, but making a difference.

I have just returned from seeing this movie in a preview / screening test.

This film is much better than what I expected. The story brings to mind
films such as Mad Hot Ballroom or Dangerous Minds, but is different
enough to be able to sustain itself.

generally thought acting was well done. The dance is a great (both
hip-hop and dance dance). And although I am not a big fan
Antonio Banderas, I thought it was excellent, and I really liked him
. It could be the star of the film, but not the center of attention
at all times. He expected a good and seems to provide an element
different from what might have been the same old "help the inner city kids find
hope" story.

The screenplay and dialogue had nothing corny or too concerned, which is
usually found in "feel good" films, or films about
secondary students. There are a lot of fun pieces, as well as drama and enough
interesting character conflict to keep everything interesting.

My only complaint is that the end does not seem to finish everything
- There are some lines back story and the issues were not resolved.
But some questions can sometimes be better than a concerned
incredible ending when suddenly everything is in the world. Already
curious to see if they make any changes before it is released in theaters
.

I give it an 8 out of 10, because I was really entertaining.
This film I will applaud for his use of the technique of assembly. Each
assembly has a purpose - and that was edited together with music
Super well. Not only are the images of two different worlds combined in
assemblies - but the music of two different worlds as well.

Growing up in East Los Angeles that could cover a lot of different
points. My family has no bad, but people around me did. I can see how
dance programs promote self-esteem and add culture
to children who have no chance to culture.

The characters are well developed (which is surprising for most recent
films) and Antonio Banderas becomes your product-soft, ultra-rich
free. Dulaine opens doors and is in favour of ladies - which moves in a child
movie called "punk-@ ss".

It is a story familiar to anyone who has seen the typical professor
film, but there is enough intrigue in the characters, dance and music
to be very entertaining. The theater audience is with us
cheers, laughter and cat-calling at various points and
lady next to me kept saying how she could not wait for this to take a
DVD.
