Contact, based on the novel of the same name by Carl Sagan, is the story of a free thinking radio astronomer (Jodie Foster) who discovers an intelligent signal broadcast from deep space. She and her fellow scientists are able to decipher the Message and discover detailed instructions for building a mysterious Machine. Will the Machine spell the end of our world, or the end of our superstitions? Will we take our place among the races of the Galaxy, or are we just an upstart species with a long way to go?

I am accustomed to hearing from almost everyone who has read a book which was made into a movie
that the book is always better. I tend to agree with this view
. Contact, however, shows that in the arts in the rule is not always
truth; opinion, no matter how often is backed up by evidence,
can never break the barrier in a hardened and absolute
truth.

I saw this film first before reading the book. This is partly because
did not know was that the book until after the film. So, a year or so after
observation, gave me the book. Of course, cinema, generally speaking,
follows the book fairly well. I must say, the film can easily keep in
its own merits, like the book can also.

The immediate impression of the film after the book is that there is a great
emphasis on faith, proof, truth and opinion. These issues are not much
raised in the book - at least not with the same impact either in the same way that
in the film. Of course, the field of astrophysics, which
Carl Sagan was a practitioner, lends itself easily to the last question
as God, faith, truth, etc. to the vastness of space and complexity of < br> fact, viewed through the eyes of scientific scrutiny, is
hallucinating. As was repeated several times in the film: "if we all
there," its a terrible waste of space. "Personally, I think the
book relates these concepts of vastness and complexity much better than
the film. However, the hearing of the book was certainly not necessarily the same as the film
public.

To be fair, the vastness that was expressed in the book are shown in
same degree, but differ in quality, "aloneness"
Dr. Arroway like her Scuttle the entire universe. In the book, Dr. Arroway
is not alone, but go with a team of scientists, all of whom
make its appearance in the film. There's a lot more detail contained in the book
journey through the device in the film. In fact, there are very
deliberate omissions made to remove the technological aspects of bent
book. However, the focus of the film does not allow the film to be diminished
of these omissions in the same way that the book inevitably
without lacking details.

One final aspect of the film that is relevant with respect to the book is
time. Of course, in physics, the time has its leading role in what to do in
least a cameo in a movie that basa in physics. Astrophysics is linked inextricably to
relativity that is also linked to time. The timelessness
device design sent via radio signals and Dr instantaneous travel
Arroway relativity seemed to put into perfect perspective. The book has a slightly different view
distance and experience of each traveler

sensations of motion. All this provides equal but different expressions of science
that Carl Sagan had dominated.

Both the book and film are simply fantastic, not shined the
others in terms of its scope and vision. See the film,
is a beautiful one. Read the book, is equally beautiful.
So many films that there is pure drivel. They use sex, or shock, or sex

to sell two hours of something that in no way contributes to our existence;

be that inspiration, knowledge or spiritual awakening.

Contact is a unique example of a movie worth exist. Since the beginning
spectactular shot that shows us that small are in a world
thought that once the universe was made, and its environs, mankind;

realistic for his conclusion that any X-Phil expected to happen:

film appeals to our humanity, intelligence and sense of adventure.

One of the greatest achievements that the film will help
that is what you are looking into outer space is actually in our own backyards. We are

cut from one another and science fiction tries to stifle our loneliness with

ideas that we find ET Usually and feel so alone in our existence. But it
You Are Not Alone ... we need each other.

never tire of seeing this film, but I want to take

a special edition DVD packed full of behind the scenes and effects
taste.
