A school social studies assignment leads to social changes that spread from city-to-city. Assigned to come up with some idea that will improve mankind, a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) decides that if he can do three good deeds for someone and they in turn can "pay it forward" and so forth, positive changes can occur. What appears to initially be a failure, is indeed a success that is not immediately known but is traced backwards by a reporter who is a benefactor. The initial recipients of the boy are a drug addict (James Cavaziel), his badly scarred school teacher (Kevin Spacey), and his alcoholic mother (Helen Hunt). While physically and mentally scarred by past events, the teacher is not the only one bearing scars. The young boy fears his mother's fate, particularly at his brutal, alcoholic father's (Jon Bon Jovi) hands. The mother also bears scars from her childhood with a homeless, alcoholic mother (Angie Dickinson).

A film that seems deceptively dark light of heart and fun
at first sight, but just keeps on twisting as it progresses. A badly burned
professor (Kevin Spacey) wants his class of elementary school to get a project to
make a difference in the world. Thus the young Haley Joel Osment
comes with an idea to help three people in trouble, and then have each
do the same for three others in order to keep paying forward . Osment wants a father
Spacey and hoped that soon fell in love with his mother (Helen Hunt
). It also helps a homeless man (James Caviezel) who just can not seem to
say no to drugs. For a while it seems that everything can actually
work, but Spacey sad life and the return of abusive father
Jon Bon Jovi (in a nice little back support) only Osment to do much more tortured
emotionally. The love that grows between Hunt and Spacey
think that will save the day, but sometimes it is not the way it seems to be in life.
I did enjoy "Paying forward" a lot. I liked elements of the production
really more than I liked the whole movie as a whole.
There are some really wonderful ideas here and in all honestly there are really two or three films in
"Pay forward." All the performers are right.
Osment is the greatest player to ever children live, hands down.
Spacey is always a guaranteed return and Hunt has grown as an actress in just the past few years
. I was disappointed that Caviezel (who struck gold
"The Thin Red Line") do not have a little more time here. His character is
quietly profound and complicated below the surface. The tone hurts "payment
Forward". I really expected a little light and little to the film after starting
some situations that seem to be going through comedy. Some things just do
coincide with other parts of the film. With all that said, I still think that
"Paying forward" is a good effort that is a little higher than others might believe
. 4 stars out of 5.
Life is full of inconsistencies and is not without a sense of irony.
Some people have tried to make a difference in the lives
and some of them have paid with their lives. Some that come to mind are
Martin Luther King Jr., JFK, Gandhi and Terry Fox. It is not easy to change the world
. It takes a lot of hard work and determination. And
not happen overnight. But then you see a movie like this and start
question that rationale. What if a concept like this really was
underway? What if every person who has given a favour
They will be asked to pay ahead? Is it possible that a utopian world
could be achieved? I doubt it, but that would certainly contribute greatly to world condemnation
make this a better place to live.

I do not think this is one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I think it is not even the best film that I will see this year (although
make my top ten), but the idea behind this is what I have been intrigued.

Believe me when I say this. I do not think I have ever been so emotionally
galvanized as I was in this movie. There is a raw power, a truth that

Pay rings clear in future and if there is a movie that I want people to see
this year, it would be this movie. It's fun, is excellent

acted, and that the only real movie, a real idea that could really help
a positive and tangible in our society and our world
.

In some circles this film has been criticized for that for the lint. This is too
like a soap opera. And that is so far from the truth. Let's
recount of the issues before us and consider them. Kevin Spacey has a burn victim
because of child abuse. Helen Hunt is a single mother who is

have difficulty recovering from alcoholism and had a bad case of "unable to obtain

her ex-husband" out of his life and bed. Haley Joel Osment plays a
wise beyond his years son who had to grow up early because of his mother

who suffers from the foregoing. Each character in this movie, including
little players suffer from real problems. If people have a hard time understanding this
then just go to a middle class in suburban northern
americas and arbitrarily select ten children. You may find

cases of alcoholism, child abuse, divorce and a plethora of issues that are not
conducive to a healthy environment for a child. So this movie is nothing more than
reflecting life. That's it.

performances by the three leads is nothing less than brilliant. Not as
much can be said for the rest of the cast, but Spacey, Hunt and Osment all
could be nominated this year in March comes. The three
bring compassion and depth to the three scars of people who portray. But above all
Osment is intriguing. The need not say anything to be
I understand him. It is a look, a Twitchen, a smile, a shiver. Anything that makes

helps us to understand who he is and why it is that way. Osment is a real
gifted actor and I really do not think that will erased in

years to come as so many other child prodigies. This is the real business. For
track with a sixth sense actual performance of this solidifies as a true Thespian

If you have not seen this film for whatever reason, and its box office
suggests that most have not done, then do yourself a favor and take a chance on him .
Not only will you do well, they really could help change
in some ways. And as
Osment says in the film, perhaps we can all see that somehow, "

the world is not really s ** t. "
