I grew up pouring over the intertwined histories of the wrinkles in
Time
Chronicles. My dream was that one day a screenwriter who come across
their child sitting on a sofa reading a great Winkle in time, and might think,
what an amazing film that way. Sadly enough that screenwriter
not, changing characters, pulling a lame humor, and everything
destroying the plot. I know it is a tough task to change a loved one in a novel
film. But why can not remain faithful to the book? Why should change
way
characters think and act? For those of you who have not read the book,
pick up, find a soft sofa, and let your imagination run wild
.
I too am a big fan of Madeline L'Engle and, above all, family Murry
time travel series, so it is both excited and trepidatious to see a film version of this
known first book in the series, especially since
was produced by Disney (Disney loves me, but not always love their
adaptations of stories that were perfectly well that I was starting to
).
however, and that was rented for the most pleasure - although Meg, Calvin & Charles
not exactly fit my image of them in my head (based on
L & # 39; Engle's descriptions in the book) was the great acting and has
the "feeling" of the characters most right (I missed the "fierceness" of the book and Meg
the braces and glasses, but she was still very well portrayed
). The scenes of Camazotz are chilling, and gave me the same
creepy feeling as when I read the book. And the plot was
in general, all the same place as the book, most of the time, but
not veer as far as Disney's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"
did. Allison Elliot is a great actress (her beloved "The Spitfire Grill
") so it's nice to see her as Lady Who, pointy hat or not. Majority
of landscapes really helped me feel a part of history, as for
aspect of the characters, I can be open-minded and accept that, like the aunt said
Beast, " , is not seeing things, but how they are. "
however, I simply do not understand some of the few changes made
that seems totally unnecessary and really annoying me as a
fan of the books. The biggest is why he did change the names of Murry
parents? I have come to feel almost a part of this family, so imagine my shock when Alex
devoted father and loving mother suddenly became Kate
"Jack" and "Dana"! I would love to know the reason for this, because
seems useless. It is totally ruined the first 20 minutes of the film
for me, because I stayed Ranting about it until my husband started to roll his eyes
. And it makes no sense to change the race from Fort (the dog)
or, as somebody said, "how difficult is to find a black Lab?"
Major changes such as replacing most IT's role with men in red
Eyes, more sense (it was creepy enough in the book, I did not want
To see on the screen!), but said minor changes I
ticked off. I would love to meet somebody Disney
explain the choices they have made.
recommend the film to fans of the book and not amateurs, but
warned that if the book value as much as I do, and try to separate the
film of the book and enjoy it so it's not what it should be.
