Alex Rose (Stiller) and Nancy Kendricks (Barrymore) are a young, professional, New York couple in search of their dream home. When they finally find the perfect Brooklyn brownstone they are giddy with anticipation. The duplex is a dream come true, complete with multiple fireplaces, except for one thing: Mrs. Connelly (Eileen Essel), the cranky old lady who lives on the rent-controlled top floor. Assuming she is elderly and ill, they take the apartment but their hopes are quickly dashed when they realize that Mrs. Connelly is an energetic senior who enjoys watching her television at top volume day in and day out and rehearsing in a brass band. A writer, Alex is attempting to finish his novel against a looming deadline. However, each day as he begins to write, he is interrupted by Mrs. Connelly's numerous demands and requests and what begins as a nuisance quickly escalates into an all-out war. When Nancy loses her job and the pair are trapped at home together with Mrs. Connelly, their rage turns to homicidal fantasy as they plot ways to get rid of their no-good neighbour...

Hey now, this is kind of a modern kick banda returns to the screwball comedy
60 years, I think, except that I can not think of any movie where Doris Day barf
to Rock Hudson, or shot him in The Willy. Times have changed.
A young couple (Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore) buy an apartment in Brooklyn and find out
have a tenant, a sweet old lady. Sometimes. More often,
connivance, manipulative, and especially maddening. How do I rate comedies
generally depends on whether or not I laugh out loud while watching them
me, and made me laugh quite a few times to so that you
a good sign. In any case, after a long string of accidents, many of whom are
hilarious, this beautiful young couple decided that we must fazer his tenant. It's easier said than done, of course. I will not say that
Drew Barrymore is the best actress in the world, but Ben Stiller and
who played the old lady are just great, and I found that this is quite hilarious. The
box makes some comparison with There's Something About Mary and Meet the Parents (
the latter of whom I have not seen) but I really hated Something About Mary and
dare to achieve this. I'm glad I did. Oh, and this is
directed by Danny DeVito, who has slammed for "Death to Smoochy "..... I also enjoyed
. Guess I just like humor means spirit, and there is little that
here too. Recommended.
I am sure that many people simply can not get enough of this kind of
over the top comedy, but I'm not one of them.
Of course there are some good jokes in the movie, but most of the time the jokes already
have been used in a few dozen other films.

That's how the story goes: In search of its first perfect home, a
Young couple (Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller), finds a real bargain
which is exactly at its price range. But there is a catch of course.
An old woman lives in an apartment in the upper deck. The young couple
does not care too much about this inconvenience. They buy the house
anyway, knowing that when the old woman dies, will
full house for themselves. Of course, the elderly
doing everything possible to annoy them, until they decide to kill her ... Already

by reading this summary you know what kind of film is this.
It is a story that has been said before, the jokes are very obvious ...
There is not much original about this movie at all. I guess it's okay if
you want to see a movie that does not require too much of your brain.

Therefore, if you do not want to think and do not mind laughing about old jokes,
this is the movie for you. Other people better avoid it. This is only
worth a 5.5 / 10.
