In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

I know it is stupid to believe that a society is rather silly futuristic
to believe that the mere existence paintings, sculptures and poems
can somehow lead to WW4.

know that there is a statue, as well as style in architecture
headquarters of people that the ban artwork.

I know it's stupid to assume that a culture based on the adoption of a drug
every morning is not very safe and feasible idea.

know that it makes no sense for a culture without emotions to remain
able to fall in love, choose a spouse of sex and the desire to create
children.

know that half of those who Preston
attacks are just there doing nothing while waiting to get kicked his ass.

know that stare cheap.

I know it's stupid that the "police" seem to die because of his helmet
glass is broken when it was probably smart enough to take
- shatter proof If not bullet-proof plexiglass in the first place.

know that there is no reason random citizens sit in a plaza
to see a guy in a big screen giving a speech, re-enforcing what we already know the characters
.

know that paints a picture of stupid characters with emotion as
looking like long hair Gothic slobs who do nothing but sit in rooms with paintings and
LP records and books of poetry during all day. Emotionless

know the characters express emotions and facial expressions crack
when they're probably not supposed to.

know Gun-Fu does not make much sense in terms of its viability.

know that this is a movie inspired rip-off "Fahrenheit 451", "1984",
"THX-1138", "Brazil" and " Blade Runner. "

................ But I love it.

Although it is a mish mash of every "man vs. futuristic
oppressive society" movie ever made, it manages to pull it out as good as some of
their inspirations.

's film history and the message is clear.

The action is fresh, original, readable and
adrenaline flowing.

The atmosphere is clearly defined.

The production design is inspired.

Christian Bale and Emily Watson is excellent.

The purpose is to satisfy.

* More power for Wimmer and Bale! I look forward to "Ultraviolet" and
"Batman Begins".
This film has a spectacular plot (post-apocalyptic World War III), and
hence, a fascist regime in which feelings, emotions, and so on are
abhors. Taye Diggs does a great job as Brandt, who takes over as
Preston's assistant. I would have liked to have seen more of Sean Bean,
but his presence was known anyway. Christian Bale does an excellent job playing
Grammaton Cleric John Preston. The action scenes in this movie
overtaken the once acclaimed Matrix (1999). The plot is basa
throughout the movie to a brilliant climax near the end. This film is
one of my favorite action movies of all time with a good plot,
stellar acting, and excellent cinematography. Easily one or 10/10
