Ethan Hawke's character was born with a congenital heart condition which would cast him out of getting a chance to travel in space. So in turn he assumes the identity of an athlete who has genes that would allow him to achieve his dream of space travel.

"There is no gene for the human spirit." This is the TAG line from the film
Gattaca, a film that looks deep into the heart of man. This is one of
Ethan Hawke's best performance as a man who refuses to rely on forecasts,
and basa on fate and the sheer will to achieve their dreams. Volume
the body of a man without dreams, played by Jude Law in his best performance to date
as well. Law simply captures every scene with his intelligence and Sly
deep dark soul. The no illusions about life, or himself, and he is
the perfect counterpoint to Hawke's relentless dreamer.

Gattaca is one of my favorite movies because it is not afraid of
address important issues that are actually present in modern society, and do
with great thought and heart. It emphasizes the wisdom
subtle theological questions of whether humans should alter the work of God, and if the
result would be a better society, or a better humanity.
What a pity that he did not know anything about this movie when it came out in 97
who has enjoyed watching on the big screen instead of on my laptop screen
. I've never been more inspired by any film.
This is an absolutely beautiful piece of art, from landscapes, colours,
everything. Ethan Hawke is fast becoming one of my favorite actors. His performance

almost every time, I like him to play a different role in reality, but in all
who starred in films (Dead poet society, high expectations
etc.) I realized that I always cared for his character and actions
never touch me. Jude Law is incredible as Jerome Morrow,
Uma Thurman's character should be thinking more developed, but she
perfect as Irene. 8 out of 10. There is no gene for the human spirit.
