A giant structure found in the desert has studied by various scientist for nearly fifty years and are no where near discovering what it is. Until Daniel jackson, a language expert deciphers and reveals that it's a Stargate. He also discovers how to make it work. They then learn that it's some kind interstellar transport device. Now a group of soldiers led by despondent Colonel Jack O'Neill go to the planet, also accompanying them is Jackson, who said that he can reactivate the Stargate to send them back but he forgot to mention that he needs to find the symbols and they can't find anything, so it appears that they are trapped. And if that isn't enough, some aliens arrive and capture them and have nefarious plans for Earth.

What grabbed me about this movie is the potential he had.
There was only so much could be done with this idea of dynamite. That alone
this fact an essential part of my collection of films.

The film itself is enough, while the average and worth seeing,
not going to knock your socks off. He is acting in good suitable for
effects were well done and very well, not exaggerated.

So it's a fantastic idea that was not ruined, but not spectacular. The
players get along very well and this is a good addition to any
sci-fi collection (especially those who likes the idea of alternate
history of mankind - See Alien vs. Predator).

I normally do not write such comments quickly, but this is what I felt
on the film and I think much more than give away too
for those who have not seen.
