It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnom to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles, and the foreshadowing of fate in this remake by Wolfgang Petersen of Homer's "The Iliad."

Finally I got to see this movie theaters in negotiating
here in El Paso on Labor Day. I originally had not thought much about the film, but as
the passage of time that had left the regular theaters here in the city
and I realized that I want to see me ido. I remember hearing several
outside critics blasting the film as horrible and wanted
judge for myself. I am very happy that finally saw this movie.

This film is not the usual Clash of the Titans / Jason and the Argonauts
kind of movie where the gods are constantly and displayed as
most important and powerful than the humble humans . In fact, this movie completely ignores the
called gods and instead puts the attention
its rightful place - the warriors. He studied
Iliad, as well as other stories surrounding the legendary Trojan War
since my days as an elementary school geek obsessed with mythology and
Dungeons & Dragons. Instead of being oriented audience that this film demystifies
the Trojan war and this is one way in which
could have actually happened. We see that the elderly who continually refer to their
called gods come across as fools. One of the most
ie lines when Hector (Eric Bana) refers to the fact that Apollo
not strike Achilles (Brad Pitt) to desecrate the statue.
This is very telling that the gods seem Hector doubt he has taught
to worship.

I have been a long time critic of Brad Pitt as a second level of talent that
became famous only because of its appearance, but in this movie that surprised me
. He is the real star of the film. Achilles is the most easily
interesting and entertaining character. I applaud Brad Pitt in the effort
make his character a tragic hero. Achilles acknowledges that he is NOT
, the son of a goddess and is not immortal and invulnerable. The film
basically shows how a rumor can flourish in a legend in itself.
Achilles' legend becomes immortal. Even refers to this in my
favorite scene when he is to inspire his men and begins the invasion
heavily and even more numerous triumphs. Later in the same scene that
scoffs at the so-called Greek gods and the Trojans of worship
decapitating the statue. I found this symbolic place of the film
. The gods are nothing to both characters and audience.

Instead of supernatural powers and impossible feats that we are treated to
realism. Even Achilles' death is more realistic than in the myth. In the myth
Paris does kill Achilles with an arrow, but because he has no skills
battle his hand is really guided by Apollo.

If there was one thing I did not like in this movie is the transformation
Paris in a kind of hero. Paris was a coward in
the original myth and I saw no reason to transform it into a
hero overnight in the film. I suppose that Orlando Bloom fans would not be able to withstand
seen as the bad guy and given an inspiration without
transformation of Paris in a better archer Robin Hood.

Although this film was far from the epic masterpiece that
had hoped producers or that are advertised as not deserve
the bad publicity it received from critics. I applaud manufacturers
this film and we look forward to purchasing on DVD.
Troy is an excellent film. For any war / history buff enough food here to
to overlook any flaws.

First, in response to all the lovers of Gladiator said that the boards
that there is nobody to cheer in Troy, I say they are idiots. Gladiator was
on a single protagonist. Iliad of Homer has always been a complicated task,
whole story. The public has to face a lot of main characters and this is a
Okay. His Iliad, not Batman.

There was a complaint about the movie that does not have a good part to relate to.
This irritates me. The real life rarely has the simplistic good guy vs. bad guy dichotomy
. This, in my mind that Troy makes it much more credible. When
events that actually believe that could happen. Japanese Cinema
is so good, sometimes precisely because we do not know who the guy is good.
The question is simply irrelevant.

The script was written with a mind to keep important information from the
original story intact but that is as realistic as possible. The gods are
there, but only in spirit. They do not get directly involved in the action
like the original. I think this is a good thing too. Troy looks like
historical recreation rather than a literal translation of the poem. In one scene
I thought that was an unlikely event research and
only to find it is actually in the Iliad. When the writer was asking too much, went to

OK, the film is visually striking. Not only the army special effects, but all
sets and landscapes are beautiful. The costumes are first class and
feels very authentic. Remember, we're going back 3200 years. Quite a
achievement.

Violence is equally beautiful. The blood and guts galore, but it is interesting
both on the battlefield and in single combat. A fight fan
We appreciate the attention to detail to the fighters' moves. I have never seen a shield
exercise in a realistic way to the film. Lanza and sword
are very realistic and treatments.

Brad Pitt is a good actor. No doubt. Here are some moments in which
seems out of place, a beautiful boy in a soldier's world. But
fight scenes with him are more than enough to offset that.
Has already been discussed much larger than in Fight Club. Women
will have much to do. His character is complicated and this is also true to
Iliad. Brad Pitt makes this internal conflict lots of justice.
His performance in the movie actually seems appropriate. Never asked me, like I
in other films, "Why do that?" But this is not Brad Pitt movie. It
Eric Bana.

Eric Bana was incredible. If Achilles is complex, then Bana is Hector
more. I had only seen Bana in Black Hawk Down and The Hulk and while BHD
was good, there was not much for his character to do so, but being a soldier. The
Hulk was so bad I wrote him off completely, blaming her for not acting
saving a horrible script. But here in Troy again I found respect. The
is the main character in the movie judge whether acting for power. A lot of emotional
struggling going on here that leads to Bana as a professional. The

The rest of the cast is good enough with a special note to
Peter O'Toole and Brian Cox. Their lines are delivered and its characters are
credible.

The writing is good in terms of plot development going, but I would take a few
points away from some of the modern vocabulary. "Stop playing with me," said Helen
quite Paris. "Playing" should have been "joke" in that scene
playing since I associated with modern English and worse, with modern hip hop
English. I should not have that feeling in an old
epic.
