A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. A courageous policeman, a photo journalist and his girlfriend, and a nutty bum, who seems to know a lot about the creatures, band together to try and determine what the creatures are and how to stop them.

This film is a perfect blend of bad writing and a plot affected. Somehow,
the acting is decent and they managed to scrounge from Daniel Stern and John Heard
(both of whom who were respectable in films before this).
There was also a cameo role as John Goodman. This is a great movie.
It's like a bad dream come true, and we can not admit this hobby, but admit it,
you do! You can not go wrong with people living in the metro and monsters eat
people left and right because of a problem of toxic waste water under
New York.
"Chudo" is one of those semi-rarities name that always stood out in video stores
when I was a young man (regretting the "parental lock"
in all horror movies so bad I I wanted to rent), bringing the darkened
figures congregate around a manhole, eyes bright white. Years later,
He finally reached a chance to see the movie, and my answer is fairly mixed
: lies somewhere between the Land of Campy and
Domain Creepy, with some elements of the rest area Retro
thrown in for good measure. "Chudo" has a formula familiar to anyone who saw a 50
the "Big Bug 'movie: Evil guys in suits are dumping toxic waste
which does not belong (in this case, culverts below Manhattan),
hence, inspire some unexpected and unpleasant side effects in
homeless people living under the city - which are transformed into CHUDs
(Cannibalism humanoid Underground Dwellers) , Reptile aspect
monsters with a taste for human flesh. While the premise is extremely concerned
, director Douglas Cheek teeters the line between the camp and horror
pretty well - not all-of serious or a line break, which achieves a fair balance
(creepily minimalist synth-driven Result help, too). The
cast of semi-name actors (John Heard, Kim Greist, and a wonderful
wiggy Daniel Stern) treat the material at face value, but never
winking at the camera, hence, generate a strange charm to the events that reflected
. Unfortunately, even for a movie that plays fast and loose
as "Chudo" yes, a few too many points left unresolved plot
for my taste. But if you want something fair distance
mainstream radar, lubricated with the grimy spirit of the 1980's, look no further than
"Chudo"
