13 year old Walter has had a hard life, with his no good floozy of a mother getting together with many equally despicable men. Before going on yet another husband-hunting trip, she drops him off at the house of his great-uncles Hub and Garth. They disappeared for quite a while in their youth, and are rumored to have acquired a great fortune, which Walter's mother hopes to get her hands on if he can ingratiate himself enough to the two cantankerous men. Though reluctant to put up with him at first, Hub and Garth grow to accept Walter, and even tell him fantastic stories of what they were up to while they went missing. When his mother returns, Walter must take charge of his own life, and decide what he's going to do with it.

"Lions second" is a film that has achieved excellence. The story line

is fast moving and full of nuances. Several elements of the plot

overlapping and blending of a harmonious whole. This is not a series of scenes action
played mainly by the visual impact, but a story that requires careful watching
.

Flashback scenes are intentionally cartoonish, so the public, like the character of the child
Walter, was asked whether the
fantastic stories of the old uncles' adventurous young are really to be believed. Uncle Garth

account the stories we see through the imagination of Walter. We

see in flashbacks as it imagines Walter heard the stories, and Walter

not have age and experience of seeing something else that
cartoons that appear in scenes flashback. There is a photo

precision delivery, is what a child imagines while listening to oral
stories. For example, a twelve-year-old Texas, in the decade from 1950
not have been likely to know what really angry a sheikh would have seemed

in the decade of 1920. These flashbacks, and how they represent, are
crucial to the plot of the movie. Through their stories, without realizing
, Uncle Garth nurtures creative potential with Walter (

will grow up to become a cartoonist).

Christian Kane is an excellent choice emitting youth as Uncle Hub (Duvall
young incarnation of the character), showing only the right kind of
spark for the bold adventurer. Kyra Sedgwick is disturbingly credible as
Walter's shallow and self-absorbed mother. Hick's family is family

magnificently annoying.

Haley Joel Osment provides a solid picture of Walter. Sometimes his voice

sounds like a boy, sometimes, like that of a young man, as would be expected
a man of the age of Walter. Sometimes, Walter weeps like a child,
sometimes shows maturity stoicism, as one might expect from a boy who is

in the transition to becoming a man. We see Walter unsure of himself in

the beginning, but later finding its feet. Not too sugary, not too hard-edged
, Haley Joel Osment is ideal for the role. He may be overshadowed

of Caine and Duvall, but actually has its own reasonably well, working
between these two living legends.

Michael Caine as the accent uncle Garth is a perfect portrait of a Texan

who has lived outside of Texas during much of his life. Garth is not bumpkin hick, but

a man who has traveled the world, and in light of its experience
not have been credible to give this character a strong country drawl.

Even though, as the plot progresses, we do not know how much of Garth's

fantastic stories that we believe there is never a question of whether Garth
has ventured outside the Texas borders. (Education and travel tend to

have the effect of declining regional accents. I've lived in Texas for
twenty years, and have known many of the old Texas native, whose diction is

just the right combination of toughness and tenderness, and treads the thin line which allows us to see

Garth as a trustworthy character Regardless of their adventure stories
.

The guys are very realistic characterizations, and Texas has many
characters like them. Aging has uncles, as young men, there to find

adventure, and lived on the edge of a large part of their lives. Then
returned home to retire in a rural Texas who were found

to be a bit too tame, and I do not remember much about Texas country
life except for compulsory acquisition too many dogs. The uncles
not much to say yes because there is no need to say much,

understand each other perfectly. Confronted with age, look out
reckless behavior,
willing to sit down and get even greater, unable to openly renounce in life.
The presence of Walter suddenly forced to adapt to new purpose, and
to care for themselves, too, as they are faced with the problem of providing

appropriate models for their male young nephew could one day become

a man.

despite the description of the study, it is not a "heart" with the film

a happy, fluffy and resolution of all concerned. The characters must fazer options, and not always easy. The brave stories of adventure
not always end happily with the history-after endings of fairies.

It is not purely a comedy, but that probes the depths of emotion. The adult audiences

will probably appreciate this movie the most, but it is a film

for pre-teens as well.
