(drama, romance)
During World War II, Europeans who were fleeing from the Germans, sought refuge in America. But to get there they would first have to go Casablanca and once they get there, they have to obtain exit visas which are not very easy to come by. Now the hottest spot in all of Casablanca is Rick's Cafe which is operated by Rick Blaine, an American expatriate, who for some reason can't return there, and he is also extremely cynical. Now it seems that two German couriers were killed and the documents they were carrying were taken. Now one of Rick's regulars, Ugarte entrusts to him some letters of transit, which he intends to sell but before he does he is arrested for killing the couriers. Captain Renault, the Chief of Police, who is neutral in his political views, informs Rick that Victor Laszlo, the European Resistance leader, is in Casablanca and will do anything to get an exit visa but Renault has been "told" by Major Strasser of the SS, to keep Laszlo in Casablanca. Laszlo goes to Rick's to meet Ugarte, because he was the one Ugarte was going to sell the letters to. But since Ugarte was arrested he has to find another way. Accompanying him is Ilsa Lund, who knew Rick when he was in Paris, and when they meet some of Rick's old wounds reopen. It is obvious that Rick's stone heart was because of her leaving him. And when they learn that Rick has the letters, he refuses to give them to him, because "he doesn't stick his neck out for anyone".

While there is nothing new to say about "Casablanca" is good
see one of the classics continue to receive some attention. For more rules
at least is very good, and there are good reasons why many still remember it so fondly
. Not all watches today shared the view that
is a classic, but it's still good to see fans of modern films, representing a
prove themselves.
Gypsum is one of its main strengths, not only to Bogart and Bergman, but also
the fine supporting cast. The rains, Greenstreet, Lorre, and the others are
indispensable to the atmosphere and history, and each has some very good moments
. It has its imperfections, but is not expected to be a classic
or overproduction - everything that you read about
suggests that the production was made in a slap dash instead of fashion, under the constraints
that have destroyed most other films. It is not difficult to see how little
that this happened in the finished product, as long as the plot strains
a little credibility, or the characters seem to behave a little strangely. (
In particular, it could have been even more satisfactory if the nature of
Bergman has been a bit stronger - Ilsa is charming, but that is entirely thanks to
Bergman does so with it, the character itself as written appears somewhat shallow
.)
But anyway proved to be an excellent combination of actors,
characters, and history, a combination that more than compensates for all
else. Different viewers probably remember and enjoy "Casablanca"
different reasons, because it apparently has a little bit of everything. While
perhaps not perfect, it is well worth remembering and watch.
It is one of the great legends of Hollywood George Raft Helping fazer Humphrey Bogart a leading man turning in succession,
High Sierra, The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca. Perhaps Balsa
showed some good in the sense of leaving a better player to handle those functions. In any case
we have some evidence in the case of Casablanca.
Take a look at some time a film called Background
danger that Warner Brothers did with George Raft, which also included Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet
. Raft had made the film Casablanca
would have been a routine action / adventure story as well as Background to Danger. Instead
with bogies that we have, but also one of the great love stories of the century
.
Humphrey Bogart set the standard for playing
expatriate American soldiers of fortune in Casablanca. At this time is running wars between
Rick's Cafe Americain in Casablanca in Morocco, an area controlled by
the time of Vicky French government. He's got his fingers in a
whole lot of pies, but bogies operates with its own code of ethics. The
sticks his neck by anyone.
Nobody, except the great love of his life Ingrid Bergman that left him
mysteriously in Paris as it was fleeing vehicles that the German occupation.
She walks back into her life with a husband, Paul Henreid
which is a well-known anti-fascist leader.
The rest of the film is a contest for bogies of the soul.
Torn between his great love, his own anti-fascist beliefs, practices and certain
operational requirements of a liquor and gambling establishment in a hostile environment
.
Therefore, many things combine to make Casablanca is the great movie.
Ingrid Bergman's lovely incandescent merger and the merger of bogies
screen cynical person. The indelible characterizations of Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet
, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt and throughout the remainder of a 100%
perfectly cast movie. And the revival of a great ballad that serves
Casablanca The theme of the song.
I say revival because the passage of time was introduced in 1931 in
George White Scandals of Rudy Vallée on Broadway. He registration
the same as that sold quite a few records at that time. But by the merest of coincidences
there was a strike that lasted two years in which only began
all the time came to Casablanca. The Union of Musicians struck against
record companies. With no new records being made RCA Victor
Vallee re-released on record and became a monster hit by the reactivation.
Casablanca also when he left the White House as if they had a personal interest in the film
FDR and Churchill had the first of its wartime conference in Casablanca ----
of all places. Jack Warner
should have said a prayer for that to happen.
There are so many classic scenes and lines from Casablanca
can write a review just the same. But my favorite has always been
when the Germans have taken over the place and Rick singing
are some of his songs, Paul Henreid will conductor and asked him to lead
The Marsellaise. With a wink of bogies, the theater orchestra, Henr
leads them and the rest of non-Germans in coffee will join more than 60 inches
years later, one is still an emotion of this act of challenge.
Bogart and rains were nominated for Best Actor and Best Actor
. Any of the others could have been the case. As I said before
Casablanca is perfectly cast as minor roles until Curt Bois
as a pickpocket, John Qualen as a fellow resistance leader, and SZ Sakall
as a waiter at Rick's. If there is a prize package to deliver,
Casablanca would have won. As he did win for Best Picture of 1943
and best director for Michael Curtiz.
Casablanca will be seen and loved by generations of cinemagoers
until infinity, as the passage of time.
