When an eccentric millionaire offer a group of opposites $1,000,000 to spend the night in a so called "Haunted House" with a murderous past, they figure it is a quick way to get quick money and leave. All of them are sure it is some made up story just to mess with their heads a little and test their courage. But, once they stay in the house they start to think about the mistake they made in coming there when mysterious things start to happen.

Asylum. Crazy people. Madness. Mental therapy, psychiatric hospitals, mental patients
have been used over and over again in horror fiction and horror films
. Why? I'm not sure, perhaps, is the normalcy of being like that are insane
that brings a real horror over for us. Whichever is
House on Haunted Hill certainly use all cliches mental derangement
to full effect. It could easily bread saying this movie (and rightly so) that
its predecessor, the original House on Haunted Hill
directed by William Castle, a film is much higher. Castillo that the film was full of
better acting, better opportunity, facility and a better script. But I liked this movie,
that is not really a remake at all. It has many elements that are not in
the first film, mostly centered around the mental aspect
above. The house in this movie that once was an asylum where
... people .. perhaps thousands were brutally massacred in the name of mental
good health. The house is fear. Empty corridors, big, huge rooms,
incredible special effects to add all the frightening aspects of the film.
The biggest problem with the film is that much of them simply do not add up
in terms of making sense of the plot. The film, thankfully, is more
driven by special effects that the plot-driven, and at least is able to deliver the goods
in that scenario. He is very good with all potential customers who actually do
very good job. Geoffrey Rush gives his best Vincent Price
printing (pencil-thin mustache and everything) delivering lines with bravura
taste. The other is exceptional standout Chris Kattan as Watson Pritchard.
Kattan is simply wonderful on paper showing his obvious talent. As
as great horror films go ... this movie is good, even very exciting,
exciting and entertaining. If you are like me and old love ...
only one to see this film as an entity totally different. It is. One thing is
... omprobar sure that is one of a roller coaster ride!
I've seen some of the comments on the film here, and disagree with many
. I thought the movie to be entertaining (William Castle
not have
he wanted?) And that really paid tribute to the original in many ways
(how many remakes never do that? General add a
Flavor of the month star, a lot of changes irrelevant plot and a
banda sonora de una banda had been or one that never should have been). As
bonus, a supernatural element was brought to this film that was not there

in the original version. I've seen a lot of complaining about the final, but
hey, sometimes life sucks and I could see something like this happening to me
. To tell the truth, I have to say that this remake is
better than the first version. And this is a stone cold believer that
Karloff is the best monster of Frankenstein and Dracula Lugosi best. Tongue in cheek
is this movie - James Whale
would have loved it.
