Tim Kearney is an incarcerated former Marine who is offered freedom by DEA agent Tad Gruzsa in exchange for impersonating recently-late drug lord Bobby Z. Things don't go as planned, however, and Kearney ends up on the run with Bobby Z's 12-year-old son.

The mere idea of having a man serving time for impersonating a well known
a drug dealer who is in Thailand, fleeing justice
is absurd, to say the least! How do the creators of "The Death and Life
and Bobby Z" never thought for reality sake, to
even think that by sending the former Marine, now with a man in the more
den without a point where it was discovered as a fake? All this is
the idea of a corrupt police officer who believes that the use
the former marine to get in the capo of the drug empire that supplies
the original of Bobby Z with his merchandise.
The film is not completely horrible, as are action movies. The main problem is the plot
many holes in the narrative that the creators probably
not count, or the thinking of its viewers not figure out how the
whole mess that was going to be. John Herzfeld directed the screen
work of Bob Krakow and Allan Lawrence. The credibility gap is enormous
when the people involved invites us to accept things that
not make too much sense.
If you can buy the fact that Elizabeth does not know is fake
was away, then there is no problem enjoying this movie that, from all indications was
straight to video.
Paul Walker is the hero of action. The trouble with that
its act shows no emotion believable. An uncredited Bruce Dern is the
narrator gives us an account of Bobby Z
achievements in that la-la land of Southern California. Joaquim de Almeida plays another of his ill
. Laurence Fishburne has nothing to play. Precioso
Olivia Wilde appears as Elizabeth, Bobby Z in the ex-girlfriend.
Keith Carradine has a small part.
Feeling and looking like a long episode of CSI, "Death and the
Life of Bobby Z" is uninspiring and boring. The story is silly and convoluted
, which usually lack a brightness-Paul Walker impersonate a legendary
drug dealer, played by the delightfully floppy hair
Jason Lewis. Laurence Fishburne plods along with one of the numbers wrong
paper and Olivia Wilde as the love interest, women drive and is boring
mediocre. Paul Walker is one of the worst actors in Hollywood today. How
keep getting work? Not very inspired, but less than
discerning viewers can enjoy the full operation and
gunfire and explosions. Repeat!
