Humbert Humbert, a divorced British professor of French literature, travels to small-town America for a teaching position. He allows himself to be swept into a relationship with Charlotte Haze, his widowed and sexually famished landlady, whom he marries in order that he might pursue the woman's 14-year-old flirtatious daughter, Lolita, with whom he has fallen hopelessly in love, but whose affections shall be thwarted by a devious trickster named Clare Quilty.

A riveting transposed from page to screen.
Accomplices are two giants in both fields. Nabokov adapting his own novel for the infamous
Kubrick screen, and no less, which translates into images
in a way that makes it unique, memorable and important, without ever putting himself in front
of the camera. A film by Kubrick can not be recognized by
his style. Kubrick never made two films alike, but there is something
that, unquestionably, the highlights. In "Lolita" s case, the mere idea of playing
the controversial novel with its taboo subject in its very basic
seem like a provocation from the word go. From pornography
think the man in the only act that is the explicit intention in writing
the character of the eyes. Nothing is excessive and nothing is pulled back.
James Mason - villain or victim - is monumental, mo-nu-men-tal! The fact
unspeakable never leaves his face. He is the man most civilized

nominated for the Oscars and the film was condemned by the moral of each at
America and beyond. As film experiences go, this is one of the most
provocative, fascinating, disgusting, funny and satisfying that I have
has been through. Yes, I really mean that.
What a surreal, dreamlike world created by Stanley Kubrick
this intriguing film!
The book, a renowned classical 20th century, is sometimes disturbing,

hysterically funny, uncomfortably erotic, and heartbreakingly sad. The film, made in the
60,
capture many of the same feelings generated by the book - but censorship

time could only allow Kubrick to suggest the most intimate and

erotic aspects of the book - which manages slyly doing.
Is difficult to believe now,
but when this movie was released, it was felt that it was incredibly

provacative and absolutely for adults only.

The film becomes its own artistic statement Kubrick --- is not limited to

try to recreate the scenes and history of the book - although much of it is
there - but
that uses the period of music, speech, clothing and mannerism to create their own

imaginative and fascinating world. At the same time, we sure did not finish

care about the characters. Within the exceptional cast, the special note yield
