Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) - an ex Mercenary from Zimbabwe - and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) - a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon - who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields - has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

Because I lived in Sierra Leone, in fact in Kono diamond mining
area of the country for three years, I had to see Blood Diamond
as soon as he left. It is an excellent film. Although not
filmed in Sierra Leone, which captures the reality of the country to a remarkable degree
. There are a lot of violence in this movie, but
that violence is organic, realistic, appropriate to what happened there. Even
able to convey the fact that people are as amazed
of this violence as we are; Sierra Leone used to be one of the safest countries in the world
. The film tells the facts about conflict diamonds
quickly and accurately. DiCaprio's performance is impressive,
undoubtedly the best of what I have ever seen: he is totally credible as
African white. Jennifer Connelly's role is much smaller but she makes
most of it. Djiman Housou has an enormous physical presence as the
mende brave fisherman. This film only so many things right
the few places it departs from reality are entirely forgivable.
I would sincerely recommend this movie to the entire world, is the best
Hollywood movie I've seen in years.
Torture road diamonds from South Africa to the greedy fingers
a world indifferent makes this new film by Edward Zwick one of the most powerful
Action / Adventure / dramas to emerge from Hollywood in a long
time. The perfect balance between entertainment and a thoughtful social commentary
aid the center of the story to have a real heart and a palpable
respect for us, the public. All this praise and I still have not mentioned
Leonardo Di Caprio and Djimon Hounsou, but I a. Di Caprio
opens a new door, introduces us to a character who is a first
in its already extraordinary career. The startled us as a very young man with
"What's Eating Gilbert Grape" before he fell with a serious case of
Titanictis. Now, after a period of three a long and serious Scorsese cures,
this spectacular actor who makes me believe that we have not seen anything yet
. Very good. As remarkable as the soulful
that Djimon Hounsou manages to give the film a soul visible. I was moved and yes, I must admit
, surprised. Apart from the visual interpretation and feats
"Blood Diamond" is a realistic view of a third world country
as shocking as the unforgettable "City of God" Do not miss it.
