After a frightening escape from death at the hands of Chinese gangster Lao Che in Shanghai, Indiana Jones & 2 companions, Short Round (Quan) and Willie Scott (Capshaw) board a freight plane to escape. Over the Himalayas, the pilots dump the fuel, and Indy discovers they are in serious trouble when the plane's engines start to stall. Parachuting out of the plane in a life raft, they survive a 300-foot fall into a raging mountain river and its rapids. They are now in India, and as their raft heads down river they are met by an Indian shaman, who leads them to his village where people are starving, crops are blighted, and there is not a single child! Indy's mastery of their language helps him learn that a sacred stone was taken by some strange men, which caused all the problems facing the villagers now. Short Round & Indy figure out that the missing stone is one of the Sankara stones, which are supposed to have a magical effect on whomever possesses them. The shaman sends them on a mission to Pankot Palace, which once housed the Thuggee cult. After a series of near-death encounters, Indy & the others discover the Temple of Doom, where the human sacrifices to Kali - the Thuggee goddess of death - are carried out, as well as a mine that has enslaved the children of the Shaman's village. Indy must get the stone back and free the children from the Thuggees and their psychopathic high priest, Mola Ram (Puri). What follows are several spectacular fights, a frightening chase through a mine shaft in tiny mine cars, and a bridge collapse 100 feet above a river filled with crocodiles! Hang on - and enjoy!

After seeing the original Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark,
I do not think you can do better than that, but this
"sequel" is as good as the original work.

With the addition of "Short Round", a small child back to the company
Indiana Jones, the producers have given the children a new relationship with
this franchise. It turned out to be a brilliant move, and a wonderful addition
that, unfortunately, not to carry out the third
share.

What struck me most with this work was the depth of research carried out
in connection with Sankara Stones. According to legend, had five of
these stones, taken from what is now called Sankara
Complex in India. Legend has it that as
is represented in the film. In the presence of three or more stones, were given
increasingly higher level of power to the deities. To possess all
five, which would be invincible.

Thugee Cult Murder has been and is real. They have been documented and even
related Zodiac murders of the 60-70's, and mentioned,
albeit briefly, the disappearance of Jon Benet Ramsey.

These followers of the dark goddess of Death, Kali, the Hindu deities
Pantheon, were known for living the dual life, especially when
in other countries where secrecy is an issue. They believe that by sending
souls to Kali, life here will be lifted by this dark
Goddess, and hence, have been known to commit
multiple murders, including the annihilation of entire peoples in
throughout India. These professionals in the Black Kabballah are very real, and
is described quite well to this production. I was very impressed with the degree
research involved here.

This is the action from the outset; adventure through and through. A total
a slow ground was found here, and that was used to further
character development in the short round, and show the depth of
its relationship with Dr. Jones. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The costumes were designed
wonderfully, and were very genuine in
area of India and style of dress. I pay attention to design and costuming
. They can make or break a film, for me. Rich
architectural designs can add so much to watch a movie, as unrealistic,
plastic-looking "rock" at the bottom surfaces, can kill entire
mood of the scene. But you do not have any of these problems with these
productions. It seems as if there were spared expenses, without
scene overlooked. This is a real quality production.

Moreover, the proceedings are totally credible, including those of children
Indians who were originally cast as extras.
Their actions are absolutely wonderful, the story was quite fascinating
, and time just sped by. The only problem I had with this film is that
went further too quickly. This attempt was
professionals in all aspects, and is, in my opinion, the best of this series
.

This is my favorite Indiana Jones the deadline for its dark realism.

It is curious that the word "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" track adjective form to
"Raiders of the Lost Ark". This film is a prequel to 1981 success,
movie where the events actually took place before the events

in "Raiders". Notice at the beginning of "Raiders" which is the year 1936. In

"Temple of Doom" is the year 1935. See what I mean? "Indiana Jones and

the Temple of Doom" is another trip roller coaster of a movie brought to life by

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Harrison Ford is back as archaeologist Indiana Jones
that this time looking for a sacred stone that was stolen from

a village india. Along for the trip is americas singer / entertainer

Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw, aka Mrs. Steven Spielberg) and little Chinese
Sidekick
Short Round (Ke Huy Quan). In its path to search for stone
stumble through a palace that leads to the entrance door of the Temple of Doom headed by an evil
Thugee cult. The action and special effects are first class as you

was expected, although the story is a bit weaker than it was in "Raiders". In addition,
Capshaw performance leaves much to be desired. She goes so far
over-the-top in some scenes you wish Karen Allen will show
Marion. However, Capshaw is not all that bad. She makes an impression
during the times when she is not screaming. However, Ke Huy Quan (now known as
Jonathan Ke Quan) comes out as Indy's best young Sidekick. The
following year starred in the Spielberg produced Richard Donner directed

"The Goonies", but then did not appear in much after that. "Indiana Jones and

the Temple of Doom" is great fun only if you can get by Kate Capshaw's character or wimpering
simpering over the top of the violence. I have found to be

exciting from start to finish.

point of interest: this was the movie that lead to the creation of
PG-13
rating in 1984 (along with other Spielberg's 1984 film "Gremlins"). Both
"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "Gremlins" characteristic of violence

that most people felt was too strong for a PG rating, although the MPA estimates that
was not strong enough to merit a rating R (Other films that Spielberg
PG ratings that were obtained were fairly intense "Jaws," "Poltergeist" and the original
" the Raiders Lost Ark "). So after "Indiana Jones and the Temple

of Doom" and "Gremlins" opened in theaters early summer
film of the 1984 season and became two of greatest hits that year, the MPA
made a new classification that had been created. The PG-13 rating was born. In
From August 1984, the early films were released with the new PG-13 rating
( "
Red Dawn" and "The Woman in Red"). There is a new qualification. The
PG-13 rating has remained very well these past 18 years and still going strong
to go in the coming years. But I will always remember "Indiana Jones and the Temple

of Doom" as the main factor in creating the PG-13 rating.
