Andrew Largeman shuffled through life in a lithium-induced coma until his mother's death inspired a vacation from the pills to see what might happen. A moderately successful TV actor living in Los Angeles, "Large" hasn't been home to the Garden State in nine years. But even with 3,000 miles between them, he's been unable to escape his domineering father Gideon and the silencing effect he's had on his son from afar. Stunned to find himself in his hometown after such a long absence, Large finds old acquaintances around every corner living quite unique lives as gravediggers, fast food knights and the panderers of pyramid schemes. Meanwhile, at home, he does his best to avoid a long-simmering but inevitable confrontation with his father. By a twist of fate, Large meets Sam, a girl who is everything he isn't. A blast of color, hope and quirks, Sam becomes a sidekick who refuses to ride in his sidecar. Her warmth and fearlessness give Large the courage to open his heart to the joy and pain of the infinite abyss that is life.

I really loved this movie. I mean, really. So I was surprised to come here

and seems so low rated.

In no way is this a perfect movie. It may be slow or awkward time for

time and there are one or two moments that simply will not work. But. In large
I was very impressed.

It is a great little story with just the right balance of comedy and drama,
filled with extravagant characters and interesting performances. Ian Holm
demands attention, as always, Natalie Portman and Sam's, while in offputting
first
definitely grew on me as she became a real character.

But the real story here is Zack Braff. It should come as no surprise that
Scrubs has never seen his performance keeps the film together, or
is capable of creating a Jokey, distant, a little sarcastic character who also

real causes empathy from the audience and get emanate deep wounds.
What amazes me is the work he has done here as a
first time writer / director.

First, there is a description here with real meaning and relevance.
Too often, the big Hollywood films that have a plot resolves itself, but
means nothing in the back, independent films seem almost
disdain plot of humor and themes of concern. Braff is able to weave together both
- a difficult task for a young writer. The dialogue is witty,
plot
situations intelligent and creative and generally writing is only
- good.

As for your leadership, there are some odd choices. I still am not sure that
as a scene of the main characters are shouting in a deep ravine and

the camera swept away in the ravine said. I just thrown away from a movie
piece. I'm not entirely sure what to make of the film's end,

what I will not go into further except to say that I felt that almost changed the
central theme of the film so far and turned it into something else.
However, there are moments of absolute beauty as well, here. All
scene where Sam Andrew and talk to his friend the pool has some great shots,
Braff and comic style and timing are evident in his style of directing,
that still manages to pull for behind the most dramatic and poignant moments
.

I urge you to see this film. There is a "great" movie. Never
be understood. But I have little doubt that once found an audience, is

The plot is not all that original, the film is not all that flawless, but
"Garden State" has a unique and sincere quality that make it totally different
other flicks. In short, this movie is "real" and
sensational.

not forget about the action. Zach was fortunate to have two of the best
starring young actors in his film: Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard
. Especially Nat Portman, her Sam is so kind to me
just want to give him a big huge. Her smile lights up the screen. NP's
character and act are definitely the highlights of "Garden State".
