After enjoying Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline in the recent series
comedy "A Prairie Home Companion," it's fantastic to see their
dramatic performances in "Sophie's Choice", the movie that made them famous.
In this sense, they play Sophie and Nathan, a young couple living in a volatile
Brooklyn pension in the summer of 1947. His story, and finally
the history of Polish Sophie's
time in a concentration camp during World War II, is presented through the eyes of Sting
(Peter MacNichol), its young neighbor to the south.

While other characters appear, especially during the flashbacks,
"Sophie's Choice" is largely a three-person drama that is based on the subtle interactions
. Meryl Streep can always count on to give a nuanced performance
, but here, above all, it raises the bar.
Speaks three languages (including a very realistic portrait of how foreigners can
hunting, and doubt the words when speaking English), from an Auschwitz inmate
Haggard to a nice "in pink flower, "consumed by guilt
even during the MadCap or romantic moments she shares with Nathan, who
gives a brilliant performance of a very complex character. His great scenes with actors
Nazis are, of course, powerful, but it is equally
beaten by small moments: the little flashes of wrenching emotion
reveal that Sophie's wounds of war, or the extraordinary
conversation she had with her daughter a Nazi.

Kline throws himself into the role of the "fatally glamorous" Nathan
and also shows impressive range: ranges from charming to menacing.
MacNichol does not correspond to these (certainly high) standards. He can play
the wide-eyed innocent, but always seems a little thick-headed and
lacks passion. The film would be more effective if it seems Sting
really has changed more by their experience with Sophie and Nathan.

Sting Despite the weakness of a character, I liked the unusual structure
that reveals the story of Sophie gradually, in which flashbacks and
come closer to the final horror . The film is very good and some shots of
Brooklyn scenes look as if they could come from a
1940 film. However, no director of the 1940s have faced
the brutalities of the Holocaust and directly, and few actresses of any era
might have a performance like Streep.
Wow! I'm still in shock from all this movie. Meryl Streep
offers a magnificent performance, with an impeccable Polish accent. Kevin Kline and Peter
Macnichol are cool and together the three of them
make a very nice movie. The choice of 'Sophie has to do is shocking, a beautifully acted
and unforgettable scene.
Meryl Streep won the best actress Oscar for her portrayal of the Nazi camp survivor
, this deserves. The film was incredible with a great lot
score and moving emotional scenes. The emotions of the characthers, especially
Sophie, is incredibly beliver and bought to life. All 3 of the
major performances are memorable and unforgettable. A must see.
